Comments (9)Its leaves have some burnt tips and that could mean there is too much fluoride in the soil... ==>> no.. it means it has been abused.. as in not watered properly.. and that could be a function of the poor old media in a relatively small pot.. for a HUGE tree .. the media can NOT process enough water for that TREE in a pot ... besides.. didnt you imply this was found at the curb in the garbage???? .. how do we get to flouride from there??? do NOT jump to conclusions like that ... RHIZ!!!!!! it was a JOKE!!! ... crimminey ... i was worried the OP would be upset ... and he isnt.. but my 10 year GW friend nails me to the wall.. whats that all about??? where you been.. on vacation???? ken PS: i live in a world where words mean things.. and i like to think that soil is mother earth .. and media is what goes in pots... 99% of the time.. soil does NOT function properly in pots .... now you can surely call it soil.. but when you start to learn about the engineered qualities of potting MEDIA... you should come to understand.. that the same word.. should not be used for two different things ... Comments (26)You're making me so regret giving away my La Reine. I got her in the second half of 2012, and she grew quite well, but wouldn't bloom. I concluded that she was probably not going to be a good repeater in my hot climate. I'm thinking now that I should have given her another year or two. Your description made me remember that even though I was growing her in afternoon sun only, that she was quite vigorous and upright, not reaching out (and flopping over) for the sunlight. Maybe I should try again and give her more time? This post was edited by bellegallica_zone9 on Tue, Apr 15, 14 at 22:55...See MoreSome Yellows Caution: Lots of photos for dial uppers
Comments (8)Hi Annie- that Windhaven Blush is gorgeous! As for Aztec Gold- it is ours & all of ours are in the process of having the Wyn's put in front of the name. Some of the growers that put out a catalog every year might not change the name because of production costs? Dunno--- but I'll get in touch w/ Don McAllister to have it changed on the Big List- I thought it had been. Ah, well...can't keep up w/ everything. Just finished deadheading all the gardens & disbudding- although it seems like that needs doing again as soon as we get through it. I keep telling Farmer Walt if he didn't fertilize we wouldn't have that problem >:) SuzieQ- thanks for giving the heads-up! & for the endorcement on the other thread- I'm glad to hear your dahlias are doing so well....See MoreOld Age, I decided, is a gift.
