I have started using the regular glass pie plates for leftovers. I do cover with plastic for storage and remove for the microwave sometimes using a paper towel if I think it is needed. The thing I really like about the pie plates is they stack well even with food in them and save space in the fridge.They also heat faster in the microwave because the food is not so thick to heat through. I also love the correll side kicks and grab them when I see them in thrift stores and yard sales. No lids with them. They are perfect for one serving or the little dribs and drabs left over making a nice little hot lunch. Chris

we went to the store and picked up some small quantities of two other shades. They too were much different than the color swatches and we're back to deciding that our original color might be the best. Still going to mix a few and see if we get anything better.

I just did a DIY job on our kitchen windows. Here is my take on doing this yourself- After looking around online I bought the materials from a company called concord window films out of CT. Good product, great service, low price, fast shipping. The job itself was a bank of 3 windows that face due West out of our kitchen. The view is wooded and right now we don't have any other treatments on the windows. I'm a pretty handy guy around the house, but tinting was a bit frustrating. As careful as I was, the job is imperfect. There are a couple of areas where the film is a bit bumpy or bubbly and a couple of edges where the trimming didn't come out 100%. I did get better as the job progressed-I had six glass panels to cover and by the 4th or so I had more confidence. So far I have left the tint up but I may either remove it and try again myself or have it professionally redone. The benefits are apparent right away, but it's one of those things that needs to look 100% if we are going to leave the windows bare. Right now I have some more Aura paint to buy so I'm not budgeted to have the job redone, but at some point that's probably what I'll do.

I had to do a search to find this thread. Just a quick update. Well, today was crunch day and I absolutely had to make a decision & pick up the paint. The Browns just didn't cut it. I don't know why I even thought I'd try that route. I guess I was just frustrated that the grays were not working. gailrolfe I have to agree with you on how hard it is to judge the BM colors. Every one I tried that looked not too purple on the swatch was so heavy that they were a bust too. I went back to the BM store to get the revere pewter even though it was still looking a tad too greenish it seemed the best of the lot. Once there I also looked at the rockport gray (still too green in my space) & then decided to take one more gander through and asked to see the Silver Fox that laxsupermom suggested in the photo above. Thank You! I like it! It has a lot of taupe in the gray that will pick up on the brown in the cabinets and it goes well with both the floor & the granite. Interesting the formula mix is brown & green! Whew! The deed is now done! The cans are here for the painter and there is no going back! Thank you everyone for the suggestions. It really helps to have a paint name to check out. Silver Fox! What a pretty name for the paint. :)
