our gift to ourselves is this little propane firepit from REI. it's the cutest one I've seen, and I can't believe it's still available! now we can have our one guest over and sit under our patio awning w/o freezing on christmas. we bought tons of wood for a real fire out in the yard, but it'll probably rain that night, so this gas stove will really be a christmas miracle, lol.

Love it! I believe it has a light under the base that makes it kind of glow. I have a beloved turtle lamp that is similar.

Yep, a lamp, you can see the cord off to the left. If I'm not mistaken, it's the base that is lit, showing through the filagree and under lighting the ceramic piece on top?

Yes, it is a lamp. TV lamps were popular in the 1950's when it was thought better to have a lamp on top of your TV making it "easier on your eyes".

I inserted a white Christmas type bulb and so far as I can tell only the base is lit, if I have the bulb in there correctly. I don't see it able to go all the way up in and through to also light the figurine. I was going to put a clear one in, but the clear one I had was burned out so I'll go shopping later.

ETA: I want to say that I didn't expect the entire lamp to light up.

I ordered an Apple watch. It will turn out to be a Christmas present if it arrives when the email I received this morning is accurate but I planned on it being a birthday present for my birthday in January. I did the Iphone earlier when I realized that the money I had saved for my trip to England was probably not going to be spent on any trip in 2021.

As a side note. According to a news article Congress is considering changing the RMD for retirement plans to age 75 and/or like this year suspending the requirement that you have to take it. They had already changed the age to 72 but the article mentioned with people living longer requiring withdrawals too soon could put more people into financial difficulty as more are reaching 90s and 100s. Any changes will not happen for a couple of months but I am aware that some people withdraw all of their RMD early in the year or start withdrawing. I ordered myself a couple of pieces of Kendra Scott jewelry during a big sale. I ordered a small necklace and a pair of earrings. Many of my earrings are hoop style and I found out right away that hoop earrings and masks don’t like each other.

I stocked up on shampoo and hair products, skin care, etc this month while deep sales were going on.

this will sound weird, i know, but my gift to myself was finding a food that my picky-almost-14 year old-being treated for a heart condition, great dane will actually eat!! it's costing me a fortune but, realistically, she probably has only a few more months left in her so i'll indulge her AND me. :)

I splurged a bit with the new pieces for the Winter village. A couple more buildings and a few more smalls than I usually allow myself before the good sales kick in. After the way Halloween got cleaned out way faster than usual, I figured the winter stuff would too. Not quite as quick as Halloween, but Christmas stuff got wiped out pretty quick too. So I'm glad I splurged a bit early. I think a lot of people are starting to build holiday villages this year, heh.

I also made myself a nice flannel bathrobe, and one for hubby too. I have a house frock on the dummy too that I want to finish before Christmas.

Oh schoolhouse, I wish I could more than like button there. That's exactly what I hoped it would light up. I did wonder a bit about the filagree enclosure around the ceramic, if it would be full plate fit in or just set and leak light. So satisfying workmanship there.

And just saying... what's that village peek in the upper right hand corner there?

The "village peek" is a cardboard house I bought at Dollar General a couple years ago on clearance for $5, maybe less. It lit up via a button type battery which didn't last long at all. So I stuffed a string of battery operated mini lights inside.

The small tree behind is strung with lights, they appear blue and when lit cast a blue light on everything nearby.

@sjerin it's The Farmer's Dog. i decided to try it because they were offering 50% off for a 2 week trial. olivia went crazy for it, i've never seen her enjoy food so much in the 5 years i've had her (rescued at 8 years old). we're 2 weeks in now, she hasn't missed a meal and licks her bowl clean every time. i already notice her coat being in better condition, she has more energy and she's gained a few pounds. :)
