Looking for stairway light fixture

Hi, I have been searching for a stairway light fixture. The stairway area is 9' x 9' and it opens up to a large landing area on the second floor. My style is not traditional. I want a fixture that I will love seeing every time I pass by it. Thanks!

Not sure if this style appeals to you, but my son just installed one similar to below and it looks great. Have to consider the right proportions, as this style comes in various sizes and the chain is very handy so you adjust to the suitable height.

How wide is your stairway? I'd be looking for something low-profile. I have a sconce at the top of my stairs that I hate, wish we just had a ceiling light in the hallway there - I gave the builder 2 options and he picked one, I regret giving him the sconce option b/c our stairway is only 36" wide.

Those of you who have stairlights, will you post a picture or a link up close of what you used...pretty please. Looking at them online I'm asking myself do I want white and unobtrusive or something that stands out a littlemore. Some are described as white LED, some as warm. txponygirl..your stairway is pretty and I like how you positioned the lights high and used fewer than most. i think I will definitely use stairlighting. I'm convinced it's probably a good idea for my house. I just have to find something I like. I do have two teenagers that tend to move a little too fast and small grandchildren that will visit often. i like the idea of leaving them on with a dimmer as someone mentioned above.

Thanks so much for all the feedback. I agree it could go a bit lower. Thinking of extending so the bottom of the light is at least to the bottom of to the third pane from the top. That would be 43” length. Middle of window would be ~47”…so something in that range. Unfortunately it appears this light is a fixed length, however you can have custom lengths ordered. I will have to go to my local lighting store to see what this process entails. Looks like the finish we want (brass) is on back order until early October, so god only knows how long a custom order will take. Would be nice to have before Thanksgiving!

If that's safe, then what about more daring options?

(although, you have a rather traditional staircase. any chance on upgrading that? then you could do a really nice light)

sue, what do you think about one of the beaded options in the lighter wood to match your oak?

or, I really like the first one w/your colors too. that one is called Cole white pendant.

or go w/a combo like the rustic french

and try finding a large piece of art to hang on the wall as you walk down the stairs

Beth, I really like the first one too. I also like the beaded options. Beaded chandeliers seem to be “in” right now. You have definitely helped me focus in on a specific style. I was trying to go contemporary/modern and it just wasn’t working. Thank you!
