Flavor King pluot
Comments (37)Much thanks to this forum for "calling BS" regarding the lack of apricot flavor tones in pluots. You guys rock! I was actually working my palate a bit to try and find at least a hint of apricot. No dice. That said, one of the key attributes of a patent is that the patent holder has to reveal the details of the secret. By revealing the secret the patent holder assures that the secret cannot be duplicated for the duration of the patent. If you review the FK patents you'll see that the apricot parentage is indeed miniscule as it comes from multiple plumcots. Note the following from the FK patent: "The female parent with the field identification number 29EB30 was a selection that originated from a cross between Mariposa Plum (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 111) and a selected plum-cot seedling which originated from an open pollinated Red Beaut Plum (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 2,539) seed. The pollen parent with the identification number 42GA580 is a plum-cot selection which originated as a seedling from seed of an open pollinated Red Beaut Plum tree that had been grown from budwood which had been irradiated with cobalt." These fruit could have just as easily been called "Frankenplums" with the multiple crosses and cobalt irradiation. I don't see any of this being clearly defined in the DW literature. Comments (47)Hi live wire oak, Thanks ever so much for your continued support. I am lucky to have found this forum and people like you. Beleive me, we will not be making any changes without seeing the effect in 3D in walk through style like you mentioned. Like you said, I want to see what the view (outside and inside) will be to the bedroom gables if we redo the garage roof/and or bump the bedroom gables forward. If we do go this route, we will be sure to investigate tying in a roof plane for a potential foyer bump out/and or porch. I am investigating as many options as possible before spending another dime on construction. The architect that we worked with is experienced in both residential and commercial, he is a fully qualified architect and he has an amazing wealth of construction knowledge. He owns his architect firm and works in his profession full time. He was recommended to us by a structural engineer. Our architect used AutoCad for the design -- I don't think that is viewable in 3D. I imagine we could have paid for someone to have taken the AutoCad file and transferred it to something like Sketch-up. We should have pursued that. I simply did not realize until now how different a 2D elevation picture would be from the 3D real life creation. Tough lesson to learn for us! Comments (42)Welcome, Sabrinaflorida Dave in Idaho, Jannie, Patty Cakes. So good to see so many folks coming in. I have been slightly MIA because of my job. Going to be a busy week. Dave which end of Idaho are you? Hope you get to see the northern lights tonight. Supposed to be a good show the further north you are. We are only about mid Idaho so might not get to see them. My husband has thrown a wrench in the shelf project for a bit. He informed me we will be getting a pellet stove or Monitor stove or some other form of back up heat soon.He has not decided which. It will have to go in the living room which means something has to give. And it might have to give towards my studio. WWWWAAAAHHHHH Why not into his garage??? Heheheh Wish the gun cabinet which is a monster would go away. Would make a perfect china cabinet but I already have two of them and do not have a space for it in the dinning room. So it might become the shelving in my studio. NOT my idea of a good idea so you all keep good thoughts some one will buy it. Dang as I had that shelf system all worked out even some down on paper and it would be so perfect in my room. Not giving up on the idea yet. Just depends on which stove he decides on. Comments (69)So not putting sheets in my freezer. Don't need dust mites there dead or alive. Proper washing will eliminate the problem. My washer does cold prerinse with oxyclean to flush, then hot wash with detergent then 3 cold rinses. Before the front loader with heater the sheets were washed in apartment house top loaders. I couldn't get rid of the body oil odor until I started washing in machine witht he heater. I have a Miele but Electrolux makes them as well. I swear by those hot washes and also use them to get rid of mildew odor from linens I buy from France. One sani cycle completely restores the color and removes soil and odor from the fibers. @cindaymac - Don't you love those those shams and quilt? Also have them for our guest room bed with additional quilt for color accent. They wash nicely, too....See More- 3 years ago
