I loved the first one - haven't seen the second. I don't have Netflix. :( I may join just for that.

Funny that you mentioned those movies. I was walking with the ladies in my eighborhood and discussing Christmas movies and my neighbor raved about the Christmas Chronicles. She said she and her husband laughed the entire time. - thanks for the reminder. I''l have to watch them

Haven't seen those. I heard good things about them, but I don't have Netflix. But last year i rented The Man Who Invented Christmas on Amazon prime and ended up buying it. Its rare for me to add a new Christmas movie to my binge rotation. I am a bit of a picky snob about such.......

Saw them, what did you find sooo fabulous? Other than Kurt of course. He's been dreamy since he was the computer that wore tennis shoes!

Thanks Joann. I'm always looking for something to watch

I watched the first one last year and thought that it was dreadful.

I saw the first one last year with my grand nieces. We enjoyed it so I’m looking forward to part two.

Loved the first one, yet to watch the second one. Another good Christmas movie is called The Christmas Tree Miracle.

I don't have Netflix. :-((( I've watched a lot of Christmas movies this year. It must be the Covid thing. I've gotten 1/4 way through many and erased them. Can't say I've found a favorite yet.

We just watched the first one. We thought the middle got a little strange. The elves sound like minions or the Greek-chorus mice in Babe.

The little girl sure was a fantastic actress.

Not a Christmas movie, but for some reason this thread triggered a memory of one of the sweetest movies ever...hallmark of course..."To Dance With the White Dog" with Hume Cronin and Jessica Tandy.

I love Jean Sheppards Christmas Story! It evokes an America that has passed.

Loved Christmas Chronicles 1 & 2.

Old favourites are Christmas Story and We’re No Angels...the one with Humphrey Bogart, Aldo Ray, and Peter Ustinov.

I especially liked the effects of the movie, (Kurt also of course) it was just amazing how they did it and made it understandable how Santa got to every house on Christmas Eve. I also loved the Elves. Just very enjoyable to me, and I am about Sick of Christmas movies. They just have way too many they all blend together.

Most are pretty silly but I do love the stories of Jean Sheppard. He used to have a story telling show on radio. I used to listen to him on public radio many years ago. He is so amusing. You should hear him tell the story of how one of the neighbors ordered a kit house and how it arrived on a train and all of the neighborhood came out to "help". It is hilarious. I have't heard his stories in years and wonder if they are still available.

Havn't seen the Christmas story in years either.

I could do without the over sweet and silly ones, and I do avoid them.

I have three favorites. The first, and my very most favorite is Love Actually, an ensemble film starring just about everyone who was famous in the early 2000's. My DH and I watch this together every Christmas season. So clever, witty, and tender.

The other two I generally watch alone. The Holiday starring Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet is Christmas romcom and it is a serious wish-fulfillment movie for me. I want to live in that lovely English village.

The third was new last year. Last Christmas starring Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding is about a self-destructive young woman whose love interest helps her turn her life around and find her balance, as well as falling in love. It's probably the most romantic movie of the three, in the original meaning of that word.

My husband loves the Jean Shepherd movie The Christmas Story so we watched it last week. It's not a favorite of mine, but it is for him, so we do watch it.

I'm watching it now. Loved the band in the jail cell......and Kurt was actually singing!!! 2 of them are former E-Street Band members and they've formed their own, who were all playing in the movie.

The elves are adorable! And the movie brought tears to my eyes. It's a good one.

But as is usual, #2 isn't half as good as the first one.

Jas I watched #2 first, I loved it. I didn't even know there was a #1 until I found it.

A Christmas Story is my favorite. many years ago, i got my late husband THE leg lamp for Christmas and we laughed till we cried. it used to live in my back room and we only brought it out during the holidays but i love it so much, it lives permanently in my family room. IT'S A MAJOR AWARD!!!! :D

side note...eden wasn't snarling at me, i caught her at the end of a big yawn. LOL

Wow Ninapearl, that's quite a testament to a Christmas movie! LOL

And more pictures of Eden please!!

The Christmas Story is such a wonderful movie. We watch it every Christmas season. It never gets old. Love your story about the lamp, @Ninapearl.

I did like the effects in Christmas Chronicles. Turning into red coal dust to leap from chimney to chimney was so cool.

I don't like soppy Christmas movies so no Hallmark Channel for me!! As soppy as I get is Love Actually :-) I really prefer funny or light hearted Christmas movies so both the Home Alone ones rate high. But National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation may be my favorite. I've seen it more times than I can count.

And I know I am the outlier here but I don't like Elf at all........I have this thing about Will Farrell.

Bad Santa is hilarious. I love me some Billy Bob Thornton.

Christmas Vacation and The Christmas Story would be mine.

Gardengal...right???? I have never seen Elf and I never will. I really can not

stand Will Ferrell.

Home Alone 1 is at, or near the top of my Christmas movie list. There was an old Hallmark movie with Patty Duke as an angel that I liked. I don't usually like Christmas movies in general, but I have seen some that weren't too bad. I prefer funny movies over sappy ones, too.

gardengal48 and katlan, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like Will Farrell ! I've felt so alone because everyone I know seems to like him, and I can't stand him . I just don't get why people think he is so great.

LOL!! I dunno what it is about Will Farrell but he just creeps me out. I have never liked any movie I've seen that he has been in. What others find funny I find to be just cheesy/sleazy and slightly off.

Last year was the first time I had seen The Christmas Story and I think I might have missed my window of enjoyment :-) It was okay but too dated and not as funny as I would have preferred. The tongue stuck to the lightpole was the best part.

My other favorite is "Finding Christmas" where there is a house swap & finding love is involved. I must have watched it at least 15 times.

I can't stand Will Farrell and many other comedic actors. (Steve Carell, Leslie Nielsen, Chevy Chase, etc). I don't like comedies, never have. Satire is just stupid to me. None of the sit-coms are funny to me. Backtrack, I loved the older comedies......Frasier was a favourite.

I love elf. ☹

I do love A Christmas Story, and will find time to watch it once, all the way through, a few days before Christmas. I don't want to get tired of it! I just wish that my mother, an elementary school teacher who loved children, could see it with me.

But my all-time favorite movie for this time of year is Falling In Love, with Meryl Streep and Robert De Niro. I'm sure that it was a minor movie for both of them, and yes, it's improbable and way sentimental, but it reminds me somehow of DH and me. And both of them are gorgeous!

Joann, thanks for the recommendation! I hadn't heard of these movies, but looked them up and watched the first one last night. Now I want to see it with my grandsons. I'm sure we'd like the second one too.

Rosefolly, I loved the first two movies you mention, so I'm sure I'll like the third as well. Thanks!

Omigosh, Ninapearl, your dogs are beautiful!

Thanks to Alisande, I found the thread that Ninapearl posted her dogs on!

I love Eden!! What a (large) beauty!!! She knows how to make herself comfortable, doesn't she? My first close-up of a Dane was at a friend's. The dog wagged his tail and literally cleaned the coffee table. A hard, strong tail too, when he slapped my leg.

Are she and the other one friends, or do they just 'get along'?
