What is a good neutral paint color that complements a teal accent wall

I am going to paint a teal accent wall in my master bedroom behind the bed (inspiration photo attached....not my house). The teal color is Benjamin Moore - Teal (2055-10). I am unsure if the neutral color in the rest of the room should have cool or warm undertones? Any advice or specific paint recommendations is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I love teal accent walls, and think bedrooms are a wonderful place to choose dark colors. I also don't think the teal necessarily needs to match or tie in with anything else in the room. I think of it as a dark backdrop where your other stuff can pop. My favorite thing against any dark wall is wood in a rich medium tone, such as walnut.

I googled "teal accent wall" (any room type just to get an idea of the color scheme), and overall, my favorites were where the ones where the other walls were the same white as the ceiling. in the first photo below, it's hard to tell, but maybe the other walls have a drop of teal in it. whether those walls are white or barely-blue, this color scheme is pretty.

note that in all of these, there are barely any other teal accents. just white, tan, wood, and little pops of complimentary colors.

the rest of these definitely have the white walls matching the ceiling:

Idk, but have you seen BMoore's suggested paint colors to go with teal? SWilliams has on their website.

ilene-I looked at the shaker beige pics on the web and that's definitely in the ballpark. I wonder what the SW equivalent is? mpg-The next color darker from kilim beige is nomadic desert, another contender, thanks! Whatever I pick will likely go in a lot of the house (open floor plan) so I really don't want to hate it. I'm having pangs of buyer's remorse anyway! The house I'm leaving is mostly painted SW Eggwhite, a yellow-based cream with with all white trim. My eye is so used to that color that all these beiges seem dull or dirty to me. Funny, on another thread people were talking about how they thought yellow creams looked dirty. My eye must be skewed! The new house has this pretty horrible dark wood trim that I'm stuck with, and the yellow creams that I like look horrible (at least on the SW visualizer), definitely need more color. It's currently painted some light beige that looks super washed out in the open floor plan. And its a flat finish that will never work in my house with pets and kids (otherwise I might live with it).

Like the first wallpaper pattern ; do not like the second one. ... ... but it's what your daughters will think, and not just now but long term, that matters. Wall paper is more difficult to change later than paint. Do some research on this and have a conversation with each of your daughters. Do they really want their room to have only the one look for years to come?

Got it. (or so I think) You can get a lot of color with throws, pillows, plants, lamps, art, books..narrow on whether you like solids or patterns speak to you most, and which ones..from my experience the more you mix, in terms of both colors and patterns, (takes some basic rules to follow, the rest are easier to break)) the better and easier and more fun it becomes, but takes time and figuring out what you want, whether the room is happy with what you want, and feeling when to stop or when to continue. Texture is also very important. Different surfaces will reflect light differently, so even same color won't read as same. Seems like a lovely house..love your floors and wall color. Very versatile, great to work with. Won't be boring-you just see it empty right now. As said upthread. already. It won't be.

I don't think Agreeable Gray is too brown next to Rainwashed; I was going to suggest Accessible Beige, which is actually a little bit browner. Since your current colors are all over the color wheel, I think anything you pick will work better with some and worse with others, but I don't think Agreeable or Accessible would look really bad with any of them.

Why the teal accent wall ? IMO it has no connection to anything except the bench and IMO accent walls are the last thing you add not the first. Thee is no teal in the rug no teal in the main bedding and IMO the bench does not work with the bed so not sure I would be trying to find a main wall color for the teal unless you are planning a lot of other changes.

@Patricia Colwell ConsultingThis is an inspiration photo for the wall color. I don't own any of that furniture or decor, nor will I, so I am free to incorporate it better. This is my first home purchase and the wall behind the bed is a sloped wall that screams for an accent color, and I'd like teal.

@everdebz I did, and they seemed a little dark and a little warm, looking for something brighter, maybe still warm but not so dark.

Are you planning to get an area rug for the room? You might end up with a rug that you like, but the wall paint is a few shades off. That would be a disaster.

If so, select that first, then select your linens and LASTLY select your paint colors.

@BeverlyFLADeziner Thanks for your response and rug options! Well technically haven't committed to the paint yet, just to paint samples, but want to get samples that I think would complement it for the other walls, too. I will make sure I like it at night before going full blown. Don't own any rugs or anything to go with it yet. This is pretty much a blank slate.

Teal is one of my fave colors! If you go with whites or off-whites, I would look for warmer ones. Also creams, golds, very light mushroom beige, or very light warm grey are nice with teal. I would say look at a color wheel (Google will bring up a lot) and decide if you want complementary or contrasting colors to go with it for the rest of your furnishings and that will help you decide on the walls.

Check out B/M/. White River 1499. It is a softer color than the white walls in your inspiration photo, which have a stark look for a bedroom.

I am doing a teal accent wall (BM Avalon Teal) at my beach house in the living room, which will go with the shades of my rug. I am using Edgecomb Gray for the main wall color, and White Dove for the trim/ ceilings. I was a little intimidated, but want to have a bit of fun with it since it is a beach house (the room gets a lot of light and has sky lights) and my painter saw I was on the fence and talked me into it - he thinks it is going to look awesome and is very good with color.

Everyone who is suggesting that you need to have an idea of the other tems of decor in the room is dead on. No one can tell you what colour to paint the other walls if they don't know the other colours in items like bed linens, area carpet if there is one, the colour of your wall to wall carpet if there is one, curtains if there are any, etc, etc. Even knowing what your furniture looks like would be helpful.

agreed. I find it particularly hard to find blankets and curtains that work with my exact color scheme, especially when it comes to getting the undertones right. sometimes I have to drop it and go back to the drawing board. find your decor first and then choose paint colors.

@Condo Association Hi, yes I did! I LOVE my teal wall! It is Benjamin Moore Jade Garden juxtaposed against Sherwin Williams Alabaster. I did not follow the advice of these professionals in this chain who told me I should get my decor first before picking a color. I still haven't picked my new bedding but I'm sure it will all look fine when I do. I won't be inviting professional designers into my bedroom to nitpick how the undertones of my bedding and walls match lol. I have gold lamps which look great against the teal and the white juju hat also provides nice contrast. I say go for it!! Color is such a fun and easy statement and I love how you can be bold with it.

I repeat, this is super old bedding and I have not replaced it yet because I am focusing on other areas of the house first in terms of decor. Room decor is not complete.

I got my new guest bedroom bedding yesterday and put it on my bed just to take a look at it (guest bed mattress and frame have not arrived yet....will iron, don't worry)
