Winter Sun vs. Summer Sun Requirements for Conifers

I have a garden bed that bumps up to my house and get zero direct sun in the winter. It's a courtyard type setting where the bed is surrounded by 3 walls and the bed faces perfectly north. In the summer, when the sun is high the spot should easily get 4-6 hours of sun - i just moved in so I can't say for sure. The previous owners did have hostas growing in this spot which makes me believe the spot is fairly protected in the summer. I know from past tests that I can get unexpected results with winter sun (leaves drop and trees shaded in the summer now get sun). But what i don't know is if I can keep sun-loving conifers alive with zero winter sun.
