marciab 10: That is a gorgeous sink! ideamom: We had the same difficult decision and agonized between the fireclay and the copper. DH loves the look of the copper sink. We finally decided to go with 33' apron front farmhouse sink in dark patina which we ordered from Sonoran copper. We are having them hammer a star pattern into the sink as an extra flair. I am so anxious for it to arrive. We also ordered a square prep sink for the island (also with stars). We did a lot of research before selecting the sinks and this forum was very helpful. Our cabinets are SW Alabaster and are being painted this week. Sinks won't arrive until early May, but it will be worth the wait! If it is at all helpful to your decision-making, consider your faucets and hardware choices too. Our faucets are ORB and so is hardware. Our granite has some bronze tones and goes beautifully with the copper/ORB. All the best to you in your journey. I know whatever you pick will be beautiful. Those prices took my breath away, too, so I ended up using my old single bowl mats "for now". I did buy a bathtub mat at the dollar store - for $8!- that I thought I might cut to fit the drain placement. My sink is a 30 so the bathtub mat can work.

I am in the same camp as @Chris Hunter because I don't know how I could operate with only one large bowl. I think there are several problems with these oft repeated blanket statements that a single large bowl is always better than a double bowl. 1. There are other options than everyone's stereotype of an equally divided double bowl with small sinks on both sides. There are 60/40 or 70/30 sinks. 2. There is the option of getting a low divide. 3. Not everyone has the luxury of having an additional prep sink. Everyone always discusses nothing more than how to wash and where to dry. This is not the only use for a sink. How does one accomplish soaking a dirty pot, draining a pot of pasta, having some water to wipe down a stovetop, washing grimy produce, rinsing fish filets, and washing hands all at the same time with only a one bowl sink and one drain?

honeychurch - Your sink is gorgeous and it looks like you also have a drainboard in your countertop. I would LOVE to have that, but I've been told it would be fairly expensive to do in granite. :( My husband and I are both "double sinkers" so going with a single bowl farmhouse sink is just too much of a change for us. I also want a large bowl where I can wash cookie sheets, big pots, etc much easier than my standard double bowl sink. The sink I've been on the verge of ordering is the Elkay ELUH 3520 which has a 20 X 18 x 10 large bowl and a 16 x 11.5 x 8 smaller bowl. I'm hoping the 20 x 18 bowl will be large enough for washing large items, but I would still have the smaller bowl for rinsing, etc. To get a farmhouse sink this large I need to get the Rohl 4019 (which I LOVE) like gobruno's, but I just don't have that much in my sink budget... Do you all think the ELUH 3520 will be large enough to get some of the benefits of a single bowl sink? Funny how I'm sweating a decision over something I never even saw before a couple of years ago!
