A sliding barn door would be fairly rare, but sliding glass doors (framed) have been around forever. The extent of any water leakage would be a factor of the size of your shower. How long, from wall to wall, and how wide? And where would the door fall relative to your standing positions? Imagine waving your arms around a bit and the trajectory of the water.

Thanks or the ideas. Davidtay - we are not using a trench drain. We are using standard drain by ebbe. Dianne47- I don't mind the top bar.. Just don't want to deal with the bottom track cleaning. Pharaoh - I looked at the hydro slide link and it looks like there is a track in the bottom.. Or maybe I am not understanding how it is installed.

There's a product called "bondo" that has been used for years to repair all sorts of materials including metals. I'm not sure it works on Aluminum but it's worth a try. It can be applied heavy, then sanded down and painted. We use it occasionally to repair window sills and trim for our customers here in NJ. Repairs with Bondo

European companies tend to make the better L&S's with narrower profiles personally from what I have seen. I would need to do some research as to which ones in particular have narrow stiles as I do mainly commercial for the last 15 years or so. L&S will be a better sealing unit in a marine environment (and just in general) due to the fact that the door drops down tighter to the sill. You just need to make sure that the guts are all stainless 316. Typically many companies all will offer a marine upgrade to this material, with the better companies using this almost as a standard (part of the higher cost).
