Kitchen/Living room updates???

Updating kitchen not necessarily a remodel. Staying with a country/rustic look. Just stained some of the kitchen cupboards and doors are not on yet. I'm looking at cupboard hardware, lights, dining table and chairs and bar stools?
In living room ceiling fan and area rug? I will attach some of my ideas 🤔

I really like the cabinet hardware you proposed. The table is lovely, but are you sure you want more wood in the space? You well may (I would already be at my threshold with what you have already), but it can get tricky balancing multiple stains and colors of wood in the same space. I would want something to provide some counterpoint to the wood, but that's me. The ceiling fan is fine. For the light fixture, I don't care for clear shades in general (though I know they are very popular), and the shape seems more industrial than country/rustic.

The rug is about as far from country/rustic as I think you can get. Other than color, I don't see anything about it that suits the space, Braided rugs always seem to me to be the most "country" choice. A natural fiber (jute or sisal, though not if this is for the dining area) would suit the space. And I don't think you could go wrong with a traditional style.

I would move the television to the wall where your sofa currently is. This will help cut down on glare on the TV. You can flank the TV with book shelves in the future to create a "faux" built in look. Or maybe in the future your budget will allow for a larger entertainment cabinet. This is will be your focal wall. Then move the sofa directly across from the TV (floating it perpendicular to the love seat in front of the window,) you can add a small sofa table behind the sofa it in the future. The large print can move to the wall where the TV currently is. Then (in the future) add 1 or 2 small accent chairs with a small table in-between them. Another lamp there and you have a great space for entertaining and relaxing on movie night! As for the ledge, I would look for a great piece of sculpture, that would fit perfectly, it doesn't have to be pricey, just something you love...

Try a warm, neutral wall paint for the entire space, decluttering along the way, which also breaks up the flow, and see how it looks. You can always do an accent wall later on. Thank you very much. I figured it would be better to pair back and simplify things. My husband likes the cabinets but I thought about painting them black or grey, if I can't convince him it would be better to remove them completely. Love the idea about the black frame on the fireplace.

I might look for a narrow, tall cabinet - with doors, no open shelves - to go on that short wall behind where the plants are (not the one with the painting). You could move some things from the kitchen cupboards that you use less frequently, or even pantry items, so you could get the dishes off the counter and into cupboards. That would do a lot to declutter the area. Is there anywhere else for the garbage can? I wouldn't want that to be the first thing I see when coming through the door. Would it be possible to put it on the other side of the stove and move whatever is in that area someplace else? Or get a small, narrow cabinet where the garbage can is now and put the stuff from the right side of the stove in that? If you could get rid of the dish storage above the sink and declutter that area, you might want to look at some decorative peel and stick tiles to put on the wall in that area to brighten things up and give you a new look. They can be removed easily without damage to the wall (shop carefully to make sure what you pick is easily removed) when you move out. Not sure if you would be allowed to add nicer open shelves, if other suggestions for decluttering won't work for you.

I think black hardware suits a more rustic style better than nickel, but it doesn't offer as much contrast to the wood. I did brushed nickel on dark brown cabs in my transitional kitchen, but I seriously considered black.

As someone who has had to live with those Home Depot style "plastic" rugs I would take a hard no on that. They curl around edges, wrinkle, etc. almost right out of the box. Get a nice braided or hooked rug. Braided would look fab, but if you don't like that look, go for a natural material hooked one. They can get pricey but are worth the investment and you don't need a huge one. Real wool, it doesn't curl.
