Wow, that's a long drive! But you got to spend it with your DD and hopefully the weather was lovely, as it was here in Ontario!

Our nearest Ikea is nearly 3 hours drive from me. I hate that drive too, through Northern Ky and Cincinnati area. The interstate has multiple, very narrow lanes with a lot of semi trucks. Hate it.

Last trip up there a few weeks ago, I bought a dresser to put in my closet. My friend put it together for me but when she moved it, part of it snapped. The part in between the drawers. She glued it back but it was noticeable even with the drawers in it. So when I went to pick it up it wouldn't fit in my car. She said she'd keep it since there was no way to get it to my house and she couldn't take it apart again to take it back to Ikea for a refund. It's sad because it's a very nice looking dresser and now I can't find one I like anywhere else.

Kathy, it's too bad that you or your friend don't know someone with a truck or SUV who could transport the dresser to your house. Our drive wasn't bad. We live north of Pittsburgh and the IKEA store is in the northwest suburbs.

All IKEAS may not have the service but here they have a trucking company under contract to make deliveries.

On a side note I have to wonder at your "friend". The instructions state how large it would be put together so both of you should have known it would not fit in your car. I second the suggestion to contact IKEA about a replacement part then find a method to move the dresser.

Rose, it sounds like you had a nice outing with your daughter.

Kathy, you and your friend should be able to take the dresser apart and rebuild it at your house. It assembles with screws. Perhaps you can hire someone to transport it or rent an SUV or small pick up. I would not just leave the dresser at your friend's house. Definitely ask Ikea for a replacement part.

It rained most of the day on Wednesday. At least at my camp up north it did. Not nice for driving. My house is 10 minutes from Robinson Ikea. I have only been there twice. Both times I didn't find what I was looking for. Next time try Bahama Breeze or Plaza Azteca to eat. Yummy. They are just up the road from IKEA.

Tuesday was beautiful. Hubby, BIL and I took a ride over to Elk county to see the Elk and then had dinner at a restaurant there. Hubby was tickled pink because they had liver and onions. Yuck.

I visited the Robinson IKEA yesterday too!

Function, thanks for the restaurant suggestions but we are not eating out right now, hence the packed lunch.

Rose, I do know someone with a pickup and and suv, but don't want to ask them. Plus my friend really likes the dresser and goes in her open concept closet she just built. I ordered a solid wood closet organizer instead, one organizer and 2 shelving units that match the main unit so am happy.

The stupid dresser can't be taken apart without damage to it, that's how cheap it is. It also would have fit in my trunk or backseat except the door opening wasn't quite big enough. I have a huge trunk and backseat but getting bulky things in and out is difficult because the door only opens so.much.
