It's the wrong recipe, and it's gone wrong! - Crab Cakes
Comments (24)Lou, I have a similar recipe that I use for deviled crab, and I have also substituted canned tuna for the crab with good results as well. It is also baked and then broiled. I'll have to try the salmon recipe, although I really like Marilyn's fresh salmon cakes, and I had no problem with hers falling apart. I'll have to look at her recipe again. I have a feeling now that it was the type of bread I used, as rococogurl suggested. And the recipe does call for fresh bread crumbs as opposed to dried ones. The end result was still very good, even though it was difficult to get them to stick together. I'm considering adding a bit of potato starch to the insides to see if that will make them "stickier". Carol, I had saved your recipe before (it was one of only two that I had saved), but I neglected to look at it before I started. I'll try yours next time, as it looks really more like what I wanted, which is why I saved it in the first place. As for the recipe from the Anapolis native (I saved that one also) - what is regular mustard? My first thought is that it is dried, but it might mean prepared mustard. Crab meat is so cheap right now that I will be making more variations. The first batch of cakes I did not refrigerate, but the second batch had been refrigerated over night, and it had the same problem. I'm pretty sure it is the type of bread, which gave an excellent flavor, BTW. Thanks for all the help! Lars...See MoreDrystack Fireplace gone wrong- how to fix it?
Comments (40)I do like it, but....I do think the firebox looks small. I'd say it needs another 12" of total width and height at least. Could they just remove the stone back up to the mantle height, put in a bigger and raised firebox, and then re-finish it off?...See MoreGerman schmear gone wrong on exterior of house. How to fix?
Comments (37)Good morning! Loving the color combination ideas and the backlit number sign suggested by @Lau Rie. @Beth that grey garage door is beautiful and goes with the house style. The vent is not an actual vent so we could remove or embellish. My front door's color is close to Foggy Day you proposed. I like what you did to your place by painting the underside of your eaves. Are the wood panels you mentioned the white part of the gable? Here are the colors you suggested with darker trim and Dove-white stucco. @ShadyWillowFarm I can't hose off the lime wash as we didn't use Romabio's product, but regular white tile mortar that is hard as a rock now. @Beverly when we originally applied the German schmear it was whiter and it looked like it clashed more. We ended up polishing/grinding it off the rock which resulted in grey looking stones. The actual river rocks are in the pink/brown family. Not to my liking. @Jilly thanks for the feedback. The house is from the 90s and you're right in saying that it doesn't have MCM features. Is this comment related to the glass door I wanted to use? The river rock is only found on the front of the house and it extend about 3 feet towards the sides. The tile roof needs to be power washed but it is a brownish color. Regarding going over it with Romabio and changing the grout color, that's what I was considering when I posted my question. When I photoshopped the grout with a light grey I thought it looked a little better. However, now when I see the picture I can only think of the ugly tan stucco :( @decoenthusiaste live and learn, right? My husband wasn't too happy when he saw me adding mortar to the river rock and by that time it felt like we were committed to finishing the project *sigh!*....See MoreTile install gone wrong!
Comments (13)it was Thank you so much for the prompt response. They told me no need to remove the baseboards but lot of them did get damaged. The Tile setter install the grout around the perimeter. Today they came and score out at the baseboards in some areas and is coming back to reinstall the towlet and fix baseboards. Is it ok to have grout still along the tile egdes and left in the perimeter joints? This is so frustrating. Also they are still trying to convience me the lippage and the grout joints are fine!...See Morepartim
