Strawberry Hill as a shrub
Comments (6)I'll be interested in the response you get Dave. Mine is at least 4 ft tall and floppy all over like the inflatable air wavers at used car lots. It's only been in one season and I didn't prune more than deadheading. I need a trellis or move it to the fence line. Actual photo of strawberry hill Jk.. it is so pretty and very healthy but thorny . Mine needs propped up for sure though but one year isn't a fair assessment:) sure does smell good!...See MoreStrawberry Hill rose
Comments (8)I think a lot of these DA roses just naturally tend to "climb" in the warmer climates. Case in point, my SUMMER SONG, which is a rose that DA will not sell on our continent anymore, (claiming it does not do well here) grows about 8ft, sending up long climbing canes. And as many of us know, both GOLDEN CELEBRATION and GRAHAM THOMAS pretty much grow like climbers. Same with CHARLES AUSTIN. There are others too... My STRAWBERRY HILL has stayed pretty short... like maybe 3ft so far.......See MoreStrawberry Hill this season
Comments (15)Oh my goodness!!!! Your SH is amazing!!! Mine never looked half that good...well, not even 1/4 that good!!! I just love the scent...I miss not having that scent around. I though Scepter'd Isle would have the same scent, but it doesn't...nowhere near as nice as SH's fragrance. I love what you've done with SH....I am impressed! Comments (14)Thank you @Minshen (8b/9a Victoria BC) , @Chris Martins Zone6a Chicago , @dianela7bnorthal , @Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR , @sbrklyn_7bny . @sbrklyn_7bny There are many roses don't perform well in my garden but I collect unique beautiful roses, so I'm happy to have them in my garden, ex: powdery mildew (Tijana, Osiria...), rust (Abraham Darby, William Morris...) Teasing Georgia has good vase life for an Austin. If you want even longer vase life, you can try Evelyn. @Sheila z8a Rogue Valley OR How is your garden in summer? What's the average temperature there? @dianela7bnorthal I think Strawberry will perform as well as Raspberry Cream Twirl in your garden. @Minshen (8b/9a Victoria BC) Agree, Strawberry Hill fragrance is lovely. We often don't have black spot in California so I'm not sure about Teasing Georgia's black spot resistance. You can check with other gardeners who live in black spot areas.
