This is just not a great idea.

I would put a wall sconce on either side of the window, a desk lamp on the dresser to the right. you can buy fake wall switches that have an adapter that plugs into the socket that will allow you to turn those lights on as you walk in as well.

I disagree...at night it’s way to dark in the room. Adding accent scones lights will not cut it for when they want to play after dark in their room.

ok but having light shining in their eye or shining down over the sidewalls will not solve your problem..... why not put two or three after the fan in the flat ceiling?

I definitely want to go the recessed route.. can you explain further what you mean? If I only add a couple after the fan on the flat ceiling, won’t the area before the fan be uneven darker? I want an even light all around. The light fixture in the fan is not very bright.

If you want to go the recessed route, add lights to the flat part of the ceiling, not the slanted portions.

In the slanted portion is fine, but you want it up at the top of the slant. A can trim like this allows 30 degrees of adjustment to the light angle so the light can still point down but the bulb is up inside the can so you don't get glare (a traditional gimbal has the bulb below the ceiling plane)

Do they make those in all-in-one units? This was the one I was planning on installing because existing cans do not exist and there isn’t a lot of space behind the drywall to add one.

If you use those the light will all be aimed at the middle of the room, which won't be pleasant. How much space is there? A 4" remodel can is only 5" deep so will fit in a ceiling framed with 2x6's. They are NOT rated for insulation contact so you need to figure out what is behind the drywall.

You could use a “frogs eye” recessed light so you could direct the light where you want it. I have some on a slanted ceiling and love them.
