you don't want white, and the darker colors, you say, will make it too dark, so that leaves you with light gray or one of those tones. what in the world are those cab made from? and who picked that granite to go w/those cabs? you say you're renting. they're letting you paint those? if they're made of a laminate type of material, the prep work for those will be necessary. quite frankly, I don't think it will look great painted. Do you really want to go through all of the work to paint those? have you ever painted cabinets? It's not something you can do in a weekend. Besides, that wood strip on the cabinets is kind of cool looking. changing out the country style cup pull to more of a bar pull will look better w/that style cabinet I'd leave the cabs and look into gettin a pre-fab, plain white or soft gray, quartz countertop. a 9' piece will cost about $450. fabricator can cut it to fit for another 600-900. maybe less depending on the layout of your kitchen. here's an example of pre-fab quartz, you only posted a small picture. post a pic showing the entire space

They make a paint for ceilings, it's called CEILING WHITE. It is really formulated so as 1. not to drip and 2. not to dry tooo fast. Why? because that is what creates those shiny.non shiny streaks the roller can create when the paint dries to fast! That makes sense, because I do beleive that is what contractors and painters use when they are painting a home.... I did not know that till recently, but I do recall having that problem when painting inside, in the winter, with the heater on for warmth...and the streaky ceiling that resulted from using paint the same as the walls, I suppose, no matter how many times we tried to roll them out. So, do some research yourself, talk to the paint store. Don't put BRIGHT WHITE on your ceiling, it may be too much glare if you have uplighting fixtures especially. Ceiling White, is probably exactly right for your rooms.

When there are several different natural lights coming into the room, I go with the one which delivers the most light…so, guessing the light from the slider is the dominate light (West). Try B.M. I know you really want a white for the walls, but with all the different light neutrals you have in the tile and the cabinets, give a moment’s thought to White Winged Dove, as it has a LVR of 76 (meaning not a whole lot of undertone) I think you need to consider your floor tone more.

Would not go gray. Gray is sooo blah. The color of the wall really appears to be the same as your chairs. The floor is the only color in the room so your eyes gravitate to it. Perhaps you need to add more COLOR.
