You can place some decor on the wall facing the headside of the bed. It's better if you provide picture of all the walls, I can help you better. These curtains are actually not matching. You can match the colour of the curtains with the light colour wood bookcase as the bookcase seems odd one out here.

From these pictures. I don't think the drapes go with the rest of the room. I would first get the bedding and a rug, then see what drapes would go with them, keeping in mind the color of the cabinet also. Then get some large scale art over bed. I can't see the rest of the walls or room to judge anything else.

Is there another place for that dresser? A few more views would be great.

If you're trying to create a tropical bedroom, maybe don't be so literal with palm fronds and the typicall stuff you see in those type rooms.

I don't mind the drapes at all. But given that turquoise dresser, what about painting your metal bed frame white? Then you can go with a more coastal, tropical look.

I think the dresser might be too large for that corner; is there enough room to put it on the opposite wall? Then you could add nightstands that have texture, like these:

If you do mostly white bedding, you could add some coordinating throw pillows onto the bed that pick up the green from your drapes, and also an accent color. Maybe something like these:

At this juncture. I wouldn’t be afraid to chalk paint ANY of your furniture ( maybe not Omi’s table because of leaf extensions but, Secretary, sideboard for family room ( or liv. rm. ) dressers for bedroom, tv cabinet in fam. rm. .....( wouldn’t paint the walnut bookcases or little table in small bedroom though - the style doesn’t really lend itself to that anyhow .

I love the textured side table Sabrina suggested. Love love love. I also agree to remove the turquoise thing or maybe move it somewhere else if you love it. I think a ton of white layers for bedding very plush and puffy. The shades should be replaced if possible. Something a lot more simple a nice rug and tons of accent pillows with some color

Any suggestions that include not painting anything and keeping my bed frame and turquoise dresser as is?

Overhead lighting always makes a room look stark. Adding lamps will increase the coziness factor. Notice that just about every photo suggestion shows lamps.

Keep an eye out at thrift stores, Craigslist, or ask friends and family for any extras. You might have to paint the base, but folks here can help with advice.

If you like the drapes and the green/turquoise/white combo, keep them. Decide on the color scheme you want first - you may have more flexibility with accent choices using neutral drapes and IKEA has nice ones at a great price. Maybe look at bedding combinations on Pinterest - search eclectic and vintage bedrooms. I like the combination of colors below with white or cream drapes.

I’m thinking a drape with a smaller scale pattern and a less dominant single color would be better. I don’t mind the turquoise dresser & green drapes but the drapes dominate the room. Those drapes also look too long - puddling on floor. Maybe it would be easier to chose window treatment last & bedding first . Can black night table & bed be moved closer to wall? I’m thinking from seeing the other walls that bed has to stay on the wall it’s on. A mirror over dresser would be great & a lamp on dresser - either silver like ceiling light or black like bed frame. The wall at foot of bed - either a gallery wall of art you love, all frames in black or silver, or a very large piece with a scene that you‘re happy to see first thing in morning. I’m thinking an outdoor scene with a lot of depth so it’s like looking into it. A garden, a beach, forest - whatever kind of outdoor space you love. Then, pick your drapes - you’ll know from your bedding & art whether they should be a muted pattern & what color(s) they should be!
