Flooring look into homedepot sheet floor. I saw it on a new build and it looks absolutely amazing!!!!!
I would also go with a light color wall I think new hardware would also make a big difference.

Anyways I would continue with whatever floor you do to the kitchen probably remove the cabinets and add fresh paint and new light and that’s it

UNLESS. you want to blow out that small wall or doorway ( can’t rlly see) between the kitchen and dining room and make a much larger and more spacious kitchen. For this I’d probably wait a little bit I think can be an AWESOME idea

I think rather than spend money on piecing it to work (and it really doesn't look so bad now. I like the black wall) save up for a year or so until you can do everything at once.

otherwise, you're spending money on backsplash, only to have it be replaced when you do the cabs/countertops down the road.

You already have the granite backsplash, and the beadboard.

If you don't have money or time for the cabs, then you won't have time or money to do a proper tile backsplash.

If I were going to spend any money, I'd spend it on a new SS stove.. (without the high back on it)

Or even a slightly used one from craigslist. get a used SS DW while you're at it. The white appliances next to the dark creamy cabinets and black counters look odd.

also look at doing a counter depth fridge. in small kitchens like yours, a counter depth size is needed.

t's a small kitchen. maybe later on you'll look into enlarging it and getting a new layout. Save up for that day. Right now the kitchen is livable

try something like these for the dining space

a dark wood table and chairs like this, would look nice w/the black/white. get a more modern light fixture and drop it down a bit.

try a jute or sisal, and layer it w/a hide rug under the table.

or, do an overdyed black rug

for the kitchen, find a colorful runner w/black in it

Is the dining room your eating spot ? I’d get table W large area rug under which will leave just the bl and white around perimeter . Put some lg potted plants in that alcove and certainly use the storage. The table and chairs in the middle will /can be the focus so I wouldn’t worry abt the dining room and be happy you have storage. Did you know Craig’s list usually has a lot of table/ chair sets? In using kitchen you’ll discover issues-more than surface looks. That’s the important thing. It’s a not very special galley kitchen ? Is that right? Shouldn’t do stuff now to me it looks like replacing everything.... New appliances for now is enuf. Enjoy the new home !

This is a common dilemma. Do I put a little bit of money into a kitchen that is completely not my style? And just so I can live with it? Or, do I not spend anything and leave it as is so I can save up for a complete renovation? My advice is to live in your new home for a while and figure out how the existing kitchen functions for you. If you find it functions very well then maybe you can reface the cabinets to your style and replace flooring and backsplash etc. This could be done in phases which will be easier on the budget. If your kitchen doesn’t function well the way it is now, then you will need more drastic changes. And a bigger budget. So, figure out the function first. That will tell you which way to go. If you are just looking for inexpensive cosmetic changes for now, replace the door hardware, lighting and get some cheap flooring to put over the black and white. Also, consider painting the cabinets yourself. It’s an easy DIY job as long as you do all the necessary prep work.
