Help me pic bedroom nightstands please? Pics
Comments (5)If you want to have two matching stands on each side just get two baby dressers like the third photo. They are 36" like you are looking for. They won't clash with the full size dresser you already have. Oak baby furniture is not as common so you will have to do more Googleing to find them. I would not put a solid black or white painted ones in the space. To harsh with oak. If you want to do a painted piec get one with an oak top to blend it in a bit with the oak you have. I think a deep painted color like the second photo could bring in some pop to the room but NOT with two of them painted the same color. That would be overkill. If you are putting a nightstand in front of the window you should stick with swag valances. Swag valance would look cute on the window by the chair. The comforter looks like it leaves a gap at the bottom and does not hit the siderails. I thought it might be the wrong size. I had to live with a full size comforter on a new queen size bed for a long time until I had the money for a queen size one. I thought maybe you were just using this one until you found the right one for the new bed. One thing to consider when shopping for a queen size comforter is that even though is says 'Queen' on the label it may not be the right dimension for the new deeper mattresses they sell now days. Something to look out for when ordering online or through a catalog. Check the measurements. They can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. Comments (26)WOW mjlb - some great ideas. I've always had one vision in my head but this is a wonderful place where strangers come up with great ideas. Now I need to wrap my head around it. Why the tub/shower and not just a shower? I thought most people would prefer only a shower. This is an old house that was changed over the years. Original brick house built somewhere 1835 - 1845 (it was always listed 1825 but old maps did not show it then). Addition - where this room is located was added 1860's or so and then converted it into a 2 family in 1914 and this room into a kitchen. I think the addition was the summer kitchen and this was a servant's room. The "small" room turned into the pantry for the 2nd floor kitchen in 1914. The doorway into the main house was added when converted into a 2 family. The wall where the bed would go isn't flat but I may be able to work around it (sent DH and DS to take measurements and was surprised they weren't more exact). The window part jets out a little plus the "pillar" made of brick. Here are more pictures of the room Looking into the new guest bath Pantry built in I would like to keep but open up the top. Maybe I could put the frig on the right side where the sink will be located? I hate to remove the drawers. Should I strip the paint (sandblast?) off the brick? It's painted now but in a few places it's peeling....See MoreHelp with Guest Bedroom Decor
Comments (16)This room has such fun potential! I love the dressing table and the picture; they provide tremendous possibilities. The image is, I'd guess, from the 1920s or possibly the 1930s so I'd take the decor and bedding in that direction: frilly (but not silly), Art Deco. A great headboard could be a good start: https://www.google.com/search?q=art+deco+headboards&oq=art+deco+headboard&aqs=chrome.0.0j69i57j0l4.10881j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Since I am not sure what the primary color you'd like to emphasize is, I just googled "Art Deco Bedding" and came up whth: https://www.google.com/search?ei=PxAHXc74DPTB7gLVzKvACA&q=%22art+deco+bedding%22&oq=%22art+deco+bedding%22&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0i7i30l6j0i67j0j0i30l2.16064.18726..18956...0.0..0.112.207.1j1......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i71j0i22i30.DkoShAKCgZo Lamps: https://www.google.com/search?q=%22art+deco+lamps%22&oq=%22art+deco+lamps%22&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l5.4469j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 I wonder if mirrored nightstands would work.. They would seem like they'd fit in with that picture since I can see the woman in a room with them...See MoreHelp me pick my guest bedroom colors please!
Comments (3)Does "middle age guy" refer to you or your guest(s)? Are you designing for (mostly) one particular guest, or will your guests be more diverse? Generally, I think guest bedroom decor should be broadly appealing, inoffensive, and not terribly taste specific. Something that neither one's 90 year old grandma nor one's 14-year-old nephew would find unappealing. A happy medium. Maybe I'm not visualizing what you have in mind, but I don't think I would find silver/peach appealing (not a huge peach fan to start with, so take that with a grain of salt). I'd probably avoid silver (and other metallics) entirely (except in lamps and accessories) because they read glam, which works against "broadly appealing."...See Moreautumncolor
