Best prices on landscape timbers and/or stone
Comments (8)There are several stone yards along I-20 around Conyers/Covington where I am. I got mine at the Fieldstone Center, which will deliver, but there are probably many other all around Atlanta. They let me pick over the rocks and select exactly what I wanted, which I did only for the flagstone. They were patient and helpful. They delivered it ($65) and placed the pallets right where I wanted it. I picked a few more flagstones in my car. (They weigh the car before and after to determine how much you're buying.) Have you checked your yellow pages? You can also google things like- landscape stone GA -and get a few websites from which you can get an idea of prices. There's a wide variation depending on the kind of stone. A standard 3-4' pallet holds 3000 lbs. of stone. That's too much for a passenger vehicle. I can't say much about timbers. I expect Home Depot/Lowes has some of the least expensive pressure treated lumber. If you need a lot, you might go to a lumber yard and try to get it wholesale. I think the last contractor I dealt with got his supplies from HD, which tells me their prices must be low. Comments (2)Hi. I had a hard time finding the product I wanted and ended up ordering online from Kilian Hardware. I wanted head and sill weatherstrip in a metal. What I found with them was the v-shaped spring bronze weatherstripping in several widths to match your door thickness. It also can be ordered by length, like a 3 foot long strip of it, or whatever. I have their phone number and email address, but not their location. I got the impression they were up north though. Look at their website, link given below. And the phone is 215-247-0945 and email is hardware@kilianhardware.com Here is a link that might be useful: Kilian Hardware...See MoreHow big are stone slabs?
Comments (5)The "average" size USED to be 63" high by 110" long... With the advent of resining & bigger kitchens and especially - bigger kitchen islands (now like the size of an aircraft carrier) the quarries are cutting blocks a bit larger... I'd say now (2009 versus 1994) slabs are in the 69" by 120" size, but it's important to remember that there still will be some colors that will run closer to 63 x 110 for various reasons - the gang saws at a particular finishing plant are older and won't accept a bigger block to cut, or the infrastructure surrounding the quarry can't handle the extra weight of a larger block in getting it from the quarry to the finishing plant (where the block is cut on a gang saw to turn it into slabs) All of these factors go into determining if a stone producer can offer a larger sized slab to consumers... Comments (4)There can be little blotches or dark spots or who knows what in quartz. I had Caesarstone Buttermilk installed from two lots (one was a remnant piece that the fabricator gave me for free) but while the remnant looked like the sample, my full slab had white blotches and blobs scattered about. It looked like a bird did a flyby. I was very disappointed. Fortunately, they ruined my slab on install by cleaning the epoxy off with Barkeeper's Friend (never use an abrasive on quartz!), so they had to replace my counter. I switched to Pentalquartz because they have a huge warehouse locally and I could pick my slabs....See MoreHU-844128727
