Hallway dilema
Comments (4)I would recommend the Karastan Metropolitan Collection as a carpet choice. Commercial build with a progressive/contemporary pattern and color palette. All carpets will show wear and get matted down if they are heavily soiled....See MoreEntryway dilema
Comments (12)Agree with grapefruit and qam and Diane. Use the doorway as the frame that they suggest. You could start with a little vignette in the viewable corner like grapefruit details. It doesn't take much. Move the current items in the doorway view to either the other side of the room or find another home for them, This is the room at your entry right? So it forms the first impression of your home. Here are a few insp pics showing small vignettes that work IMO ^Small but with big impact. I don't know your style, this is just an example of chair, lamp, side table, rug and pillow. That's all you need facing the door. The items you choose will showcase your style. And you can get some of these or similar items at target if you are on a budget. ^Or you could do the writing desk and chair with rug and lamp. Very simple like you had planned in the beginning. Two chairs and a side table with lamp in front of the windows would be very inviting. You don't have to go high end if you are on a budget....See MoreEntryway design dilema
Comments (11)I think the clock looks great there! Perfect size. Nice and weighty. I was talking about putting a table and mirror on the wall to the left of the door, where the black pedestals and plants were. It looks like you would need a narrow one, and I think it would look great if it were a darker wood, like your clock. I would make the mirror quite tall, a vertical rectangle. Here are a few ideas of tables and mirrors. I also don't think you need to place anything on the table - no plants, no lamps. https://www.houzz.com/photos/phbr3-bp~t_741~s_2107~a_13-416--30-231?fi=32 I would gather up your family photos - the ones placed high up, and the ones you can still see when you look at the clock. I would get dark wood frames for them and make a gallery wall with them all together. I would put this gallery collection all together in a place where they can be hung more at eye level and enjoyed as a whole collection and focal point. Is there another room in your home where this would look good?...See Morestaircase entry/hallway/entryway lights
Comments (2)What is your style/style of your furnishings? Is the staircase fixture the same as the entry fixture? If it is, and you like that finish/style, a quick fix would be to get rid of the boob light in the hallway and move the staircase fixture to the hallway. If you want different fixtures altogether, choose a semi-flush mount fixture for the entry and the flush mount version of the same fixture for the hallway. Then pick out a larger complimentary pendant or chandelier for the staircase....See MoreRelated Professionals
