Powdered or liquid detergents -- septic tank
Comments (42)Just to say, the filter on that 1977 Maytag did catch some lint, but it was a "passive" system depending on water currents circulating into the agitator barrel and wasn't as effective as it seemed ... not like an active filter via flow from the machine's pump. Not unusual that people aren't aware that those Maytags have a filter and leave it neglected and uncleaned literally for years (like my sister) to no obvious ill effect (of lint on the clothes). :-)...See MoreQuick Powder Detergent Question
Comments (3)A TL doesn't give you too many options when it comes to detergent and additive dispensing, so your question is not silly at all. In a FL, you should add the detergent (no matter if liquid or powder) in the detergent part of the sdispenser. This allows the detergent to be dissolved by the incoming water before it hits the laundry. Some people do add detergent directly to the clothes, but it is not really the preferred method. The powder will rub against the clothes before all the water gets to it and dissolves it. A FL starts agitating as soon as you turn it on and the clothes in the middle of the drum take a while to get soaked. I hope you'll enjoy your Duet and get many years of good service out of it. Comments (44)Pesky1, you bring up an excellent point on saving money. Sometimes it's just plain best to go with what works best regardless of the price. Trying other stuff can be expensive and frustrating. I don't have issues with laundry so for me I go with the cheapest. I have real issues with people buying the specialized brands for 50¢-$1.50 per load and trying to tell me it's cheaper than store brands! My clothes are clean, don't smell and I'm wearing jeans from 15 years ago. All this from cheap detergent and in a 26 year old top loader that those on the laundry forum want to call "clothes shredders"! LOL Just goes to show that sometimes people get a little exaggerated in their claims and defense of what they like. Back to what I was saying. I gave up on buying "bargain brand" dish soap. Simply because Dawn & Joy do the best job for me, at a reasonable price. I've also had to throw away too much of the other stuff I tried with the intention of saving money. Again, sometimes the better stuff is the better buy. Happy bargaining everyone!...See MoreGreat news about ALL powder detergent!
Comments (56)I have a GE Profile Top Load (2006) with very good agitation. This is an update. Over the past 3 weeks I have stopped using the All Free Powder & Borax. I bought the bottle of the Persil Sensitive White (that I had used before), the Tide Free & Gentle HE Liquid (small bottle), and Tide Free & Gentle Pods (31 ct). Since using these three products over the past few weeks I have noticed a few things. First off, all of the clean about the same. I have a blue T-Shirt (that I wear often) and the All Powder never could get grease/food stains out when eating-out. Two weeks ago it got some spots on it, so when I got home I did all the cloths wash with a Tide F/G Pods, and the spots came out. I was actually amazed since this doesn't happen when using the All Powder. I have washed two loads of towels, once with the Persil liquid and once with the Tide F/G Pods, and both times noticed they came out of the dryer feeling "softer" and not as rough/scratchy as when using the All Powder. The Tide F/G Liquid cleans well too, but is very runny (watery), and I think the Pods may do a better job. The Persil Sensitive is thicker (like white glue) so I'm always wondering how well it dissolves in the wash and if it will leave any residue, but it also cleans good, though there is a bit more scent from it. I looked at all of the ingredients and the All Free Powder doesn't really list what's all in there or the types of enzymes. The Persil Sensitive has 20 ingredients with 4 enzymes (protease, amylase, cellulase, mannanase). Tide Free Gentle HE Liquid has 26 ingredients with 3 enzymes (subtilisin, amylase, mannanase). Tide Free Gentle Pods as 23 ingredients and with the same 3 enzymes (subtilisin, amylase, mannanase). Lastly, I have noticed over the past few weeks, that the Walmart Super Store that I go to has been out of the All Free Powder. There's just an empty space, but the shelf tag is still there....See Morefordtech
