Living Room Before and After
Comments (13)Ditto what nosoccermom said! Buying new pillows obviously, so why not point a client in a direction that takes a room from amateur to professional? Pillows can always be returned if the client hates them. With a dark brown sofa, you could add pillows with pattern, texture, and color that would take it to the next level. Right now, you're certainly improving things, and with a bit more work it will take it to the professional level. The current artwork above the sofa is so bland, and art can be had that's affordable for anyone at places like Home Goods, Ross, Marshalls, Ikea, etc. Here are a couple photos of LR with dark sofa that show you how to brighten and make the room more welcoming. Good luck with your new business and study great decorators' portfolios....See MorePainted judges paneling, block paneling living room before and after
Comments (5)It was a lot of work. I prepped by lightly sanding and cleaning with denatured alcohol and then priming with shellac primer. I quickly realized it would need caulk and spraying of the paint for a great finish, so I hired a painter. He came out right away and caulked and sprayed 2 coats (and cleaned up well) for $350. The room is 18x27 with 10’ or11’ walls, so I thought it was a great deal. I prepped for the stain by lightly sanding and cleaning with denatured alcohol. It took 2 coats of gel stain (with drying 72 hours after each) plus 3 coats of clear topcoat with light sanding and wiping between each topcoat. It took about 3 weeks total while working only weekends and evenings. I know now lots of people are against painting beautiful wood paneling, but I really didn’t like the orange-tint of the wood and it really didn’t go with the floors or any of my furniture. I waited months to see if my opinion would change and did a ton of research before biting the bullet. It was the most economical solution that I would also be happy with. This isn’t our forever home or our dream home, but it’s perfect for us for right now....See MoreLiving Room Before & After
Comments (8)Having grown up with the "Mediterranean" style of furniture, they looks so much better and more fun painted bright colors! My mother had a set of low cabinets that she got unfinished and did in an antique cream finish and used as a room divider then dining room credenza. Solid wood. Don't know what happened to them, they moved and didn't take them with but I'll take a fab painted solid wood piece any day over something "trendy" and particle board. I really love colorful decorating! Thanks for sharing!! Also love the curved archway. Actually living in an oppressively "open concept" home (no escape!) I miss archways in general . . . Love the bright florals too, so perky and fresh!...See MoreLiving room before & after
Comments (15)You have a great change going. Finish through and put the identical panels on the smaller window. A larger TV in that room did not enhance it. The way the seating is set, will it truly be used in that room? The table under the window is it installed? That side of the space could use some editing, I know and I am suggesting more with the panels....See Morelucky998877
