Best way to deal with getting rid of old tomato plants?

If I had just a few tomato plants, I would put them in the burner. But.....I have a lot of them, plus my squash and cucumbers had squash bugs and borers this year, so I want to get rid of all those too, without putting them into my compost pile. Question: Would it be okay to put them in our woods, where we put large amounts of branches, bush cuttings, etc? That would be the easiest thing for us as opposed to burning.......but we'll burn if we have to. We have 35 acres, so it's easy to pile them up in the woods, close to the garden (maybe 60-75' from the garden). Thanks!
