Sorry I don't have any pictures. Our builder is recommending Homecrest for our new home. We did get a catalog from the cabinet shop he uses, but it's not nearly as detailed as say Kraftmaid. My friend's Homecrest cabinets are about 4 years old and she loves them. We're using Bayport Hickory in the kitchen and Arbor Oak everywhere else. We were pleasantly surprised by the price.

In what way? We would be upgrading the drawers, glides, soft close, plywood boxes, etc....The other line carried by the builder is Candlelight, but the rep said there was no way it would fit in my budget, in fact would probably eat up my ENTIRE budget. This seems crazy considering where I live. She said 99% of buyers go with the Homecrest. I have to admit I'm not impressed by the limited door styles and finishes, as well as the lack of a full overlay design (they only have something called "modified full overlay"). I should clarify that I am looking at using a custom home builder to do a total kitchen remodel. My total budget is mid-five figures (in a small town where you can buy a small HOUSE for well under $100000). The homes built by this company list for between $275000-$600000. This is my "forever house" so I certainly want quality products, not something that looks cheap or falls apart!

Fireclay Tile is great -- I just moved from downtown San Jose (where their hq is located) and not only is the tile beautiful but the people in the showroom are so friendly. I'll have to look for photos to see if I have anything good --we used their tile on walls, floors, kitchen, bathrooms, laundry-- but we just sold that house so I might be out of luck. This was five years ago and their styles might have changed, but I'd say that if you like a very streamlined or modern look, e.g. rectified porcelain with tiny grout joints, it might not be your thing. Our old house was a 1919 Craftsman so it was a good fit. Glazes are beautiful and they have every color/finish under the sun. A lot of crazing which I love but I know others hate... If anyone's in the SF Bay Area and on a budget, I'd recommend stopping by because they also have a boneyard -- where you can get seconds and overruns for less than retail. Not as good a deal as it was 5 years ago but if you are open as to color and don't need all the trim pieces to match, you can score a deal -- I think they're selling first-quality overruns for something like $10/sq ft now. I had to forcibly stop myself from driving to the boneyard "just to look" when we finally finished our renovation. I'm so bummed I moved 45 minutes away. I got so many ideas just digging through the boneyard and browsing the showroom.

Do you mean outlet covers? I used porcelain outlet and switch covers a lot in my old (100 yr old) house. I liked them, but they stick out really far. They often wouldn't lie flush against the surface (if the surface was uneven plaster, or grout lines in tile). So, they tend to "announce themselves" albeit in a cute way. (But mine were from Home Depot. I haven't seen the ones at RH. Maybe they are flatter.) In my current (young--80 yrs old) house, I'm probably using a combo of plates from Classic Accents or Rejunvenation. My plan for the backsplash was to use polished nickel (and maybe apply an aging solution to it so it matches my vintage cabinet hardware better). But if the nickel stands out too much, I might get the version (from Classic Accents) that can be painted. I'm striving for an original look to my kitchen, and for me, painted covers might actually look more authentic (in all their charming sloppiness!) Note: if you are interested in nickel plates, the ones from Classic Accents are laquered, while the ones from Rejuvenation are not (better--in my opinion). Jgarner (assuming you've seen her kitchen) did nickel covers on the walls, and white covers on her subway tile. How about plugmold? :-) Francy
