Countertop Material for 19 SQ FT counter

Hello, we are updating the counter after going dark brown for cabinets and slate gray for floor. Right now it is a 13 y/o granite-look laminate that is starting to show wear. I need something durable and low maintenance because this is a high-use countertop. I thought maybe I would be able to get granite this time, but they said they have a 25 sq ft minimum. At 19, this kitchen is too small. At Home Depot, the "kitchen specialist" did not listen when I said I didn't want maintenance like sealing granite and told me to get granite. Then he told me to do quartz. It's so expensive. I'm not a fan of quartz today: it has a fleck pattern that matches exactly the 1970s linoleum we have in a closet. I had hoped for granite that was sealed. I think we do need a pattern and not just flat white like Corian. Am I doomed to laminate? Any other suggestions?
