found even more room in my ka kude dw
Comments (19)Sorry I abandoned this tread for awhile. My dad forgot to put my new car in park when he got out of it. It rolled off the driveway, DOWNHILL about 200+ yards thru the pasture. A large tree stopped it, killing it (my car) :( The most wonderfully awesome, perfect for me car EVER! 36 hours of crying can do some nasty things to your eyes AND face :( warmfridge, right now I have one of those small plastic liquid medicine cups in the mesh basket. I've put bottle rings and nipples in it. Small plastic forks and spoons but mostly, it's seldom used. It's not in the way to I chose to leave it :) magothyrivergirl, my Maytag was almost 10 years old. The repair cost ratio dictated a new one...Oh no! I did myself a favor a few years ago and gave away all my stoneware and replaced it with Corelle. I know a lot of people think it's tacky but maybe those people don't have issues with their hands and arms (YET!) I can pick up 4 or 5 plates with one hand at one time. They fit nicely and don't chip. We aren't wine drinkers so I don't have this problem but you can remove one half of the top cutlery try to give room for your stemware. Picture below. Any stemware should fit. You can put the extra silverware in the corner basket on the bottom rack or use your silverware basket that a lot of us have removed to make more room in the bottom. This dw seems to have endless possibilities! tress21, I haven't used heated dry in 20 years. It heats the house and costs more in energy costs. I'm glad I have it if I ever decide I need it :) There are two halves to the cutlery tray. You can easily take one (or both for that matter) out for tall stemware and you wouldn't have to lower the middle row. I keep forgetting about this when I have a lot of big pots and pans to wash. Comments (37)Sorry to hear about the KA issues. I was concerned as well when I got a KUDE70FVSS model in February 2010. The vent is located on the left side of the top edge of the door, next to the controls. It is not on the side of the door. KA's are deep and most will not fit flush under normal depth cabinets I hear. We have about a 1 1/4 inch granite countertop overhang which happens to be about the thickness of the door. So in our case we pushed the DW back until the door was lined up with the cabinet fronts but the door is completely underneath the granite countertop. It actually looks pretty good. (Our old WP was flush mounted with cabinet matching panels installed) We put the moisture strip supplied by KA on the bottom of the granite, for no good reason but figured why not. There is a small strip of cabinet under the granite that forms the top of the cabinet opening for the DW that is, of course, wood. If I put the moisture strip on it, it showed since the strip is a shiny material, so I left it off. I kept an eye on it for months to see what happened and I have never seen any moisture or noticed any steam coming from the vents at all, regardless of the time of day we run the DW. The wood under the granite and all around the DW looks fine and has never shown any sign of getting wet. Not sure what system they are using in this model but apparently it does not suffer from the same problems as the side vent models....See MoreKA dishwashers - Affresh cleaner... why?
Comments (32)Vinegar without dishes. The trick is to load the vinegar in during the main wash period, which is (presumably) the longest phase. If the vinegar is added at the start and the cycle begins with a short prewash (or prerinse), it'll spray around for a few mins then drain away and there'll be none for the remainder of the cycle. A possible way to determine when to add it is listen for the first fill, some spray time and a drain, then open the door and add it when the next fill begins. However, that presumes there's only one prewash/rinse period. There's a commercial dishwasher cleaning product, marketed under one of the common brand names (JetDry or Finish). A bottle of either acetic acid (vinegar) or citric acid solution, with a wax seal that melts to release the fluid when the water gets hot enough, which should be in the main wash period....See MoreProblems with KA dishwasher KUDS30?
Comments (2)After much research we ended up with the KUDS30FXBL (hidden controls). We've had it for a couple of months now and I love it. As far as I recall, the complaint about the rack is that the rollers break. So far so good here. It is a tad hard to remove the top rack completely, though, if you want to do that. I call upon the engineer in the family for that. My only complaint is that the silverware rack is too big and wastes space. It would be nice if it snapped apart so you could use all, or half of it, according to need....See Morealiris19
