Most people do have one, I have heard. It is uncommon not to.

I don't have one, and my son doesn't either.

I do, on my arm. DD has a small one on her cheek.

Some are not things that people consider as being a birthmark. I have what my mom called a birthmark on the back of my neck near the hairline. I have never seen it but ever so often it would itch and my mom would tell me not to scratch my birthmark. Then there is that brown spot on the butt that many people have. Not certain if babies are born with a dark spot there or if as you age it appears.

Saw an article on birthmarks once that said that any dark spot on your skin that you are born with is a birthmark. I have several that are freckle size.

I did have one. It was on my inner upper leg. The size of my hand. I had it my whole life and then in my mid to late 20's it faded and disappeared. I miss it..... It wasn't dark and I was told a few times to "wash your legs better" when I wore shorts. hahahaha

Oh. Then my son and I both have a million of them! If you mean moles. Daddy says he doesn't have one. So maybe it's genetic.

I just remember when we had a babysitter, and she kept trying to wash my sister's birthmark off as dirt. Ive always envied her that. Grass is always greener on the other side isn't it?

I have a faint one on the back of my neck. Don't see it very often!!!!

My granddaughter has her father's red hair and also a small mole on her cheek, exactly like his.

I have one on the outside of my left knee. I think I went through a little stage about junior high age where it bothered me - gym class - even though its somewhat faint. But not of any real consequence the rest of my life. These days, I'm pretty happy just to have a working knee ;0)

My sis has one on her derriere. My brother, back of his thigh. Our Mom has none that I know of.

Yes, I do, a small egg shaped one on the backside of my arm, below my left elbow. It is the size of the tip of my little finger. I am the only one in my family to have one. None of my children had any.

I used to have one, on the side of my head, under my hair. It was smooth, red and hairless, and about the size of a quarter. Years ago my doctor wanted me to have it looked at by a dermatologist. She said the kind it was can sometimes become malignant. The Derm took a look, said yup, it has to come off. So he removed it, put in some stitches and that was that. Until five or so years later, that same Dermatologist ended up in the news for insurance fraud, performing unnecessary and disfiguring procedures, reusing supplies like syringes and stitching materials without sterilizing first and other egregious activities. All patients had to be tested for HIV and hepatitis. He’s finishing up a 10 year jail sentence for the fraud but was never prosecuted for the other stuff. I always wonder if that birthmark truly needed to be removed.

As far as I know, I'm the only person in my family with a birthmark. It's a dark patch the size of a dime in my underarm area. I also have a large scar on that arm from an operation on my elbow. I wore long sleeves throughout my middle school years, until I figured out no one really cared about my 'disfigurements' except me!

I have one on my right knee. Back in the day, when you would tan, I would wish I could be that color all over!

I don't think I have any. I did have an extreme case of chickenpox when I was very young, and I have tiny scars in one eyebrow and at the corner of my mouth. I have a dime-size one on the outside of one knee.

That knee wouldn't support me when I had the pox. I remember my mother carrying me to the toilet. My father rigged phones from my bed, into the upstairs hall and down the laundry chute into the kitchen, so I could call for help.

My older son has a purple birthmark on his chest and I called it his angel kiss. When he was young it looked like a bruise so when I took him to the emerg clinic (that kid had more bad colds with a resultant evening cough) and the doctor listened to his chest his eyes always went straight to the birthmark and I always had to explain it was a birthmark and was on file with his doctor.

He's now 33 and still has it. It's never bothered him.

I have a large port wine stain/birthmark on my chin. Wish it were someplace else. I have always had to wear special make-up on it. Back in the 80's and early 90's I had a series of painful laser treatments which helped lighten and shrink it, but it's still there. I always thought if I were a man, I'd just grow a goatee to conceal it.

Moles and spots are pretty common in our family - lots of fair-skinned folks.

Most of my birthmarks have faded away now, but I had what I always thought looked like a bitemark of 2 front teeth on my upper thigh that relatives told me was fairy footprints when I was little.

And I remember as a child being frightened by my grandfather telling me that a cluster of tiny brown spots on my right bicep meant a poisonous spider had walked on me.

My middle sister had a big strawberry mark on her behind that we teased her about.

My mom and I had the same light brown birthmark on the back of the thigh. When my cousin came to visit and stayed in my room, we discovered that she has it, too. I have a lot of cousins. Some day maybe I'll take a poll and see if any of the others have it.

I had no birthmark that I know of, and my 3 kids also had no marks at birth. My children are half Asian, but look mostly Caucasian. My DD's kids are only a quarter Asian, but one looks entirely Asian, one looks half Asian and one looks entirely Caucasian. The first two were both born with 'Mongolian spots' which is actually more of a 'patch' of pigmented bluish green skin. In both kids, the discoloured skin was in the lower back area, just where it meets the buttocks. We'd sometimes forget they hadn't injured themselves, because it looked so much like a faded bruise. On both kids, the birthmarks faded away, shortly after the age of 3. Their sister, who looks entirely Caucasian did not get the Mongolian birthmark, so it seems that the Mongolian birthmark tends to go more hand in hand with those of a slightly darker complexion.

Bragu, do you maybe mean the small pox vaccine scar? Everyone I knew grew up with one.

Haha, I have the vaccination mark on my upper left arm too -- all the kids did, so I don't remember being self-conscious about it.
