Hip roof or shed roof for small back porch

We're in the middle of a renovation/addition project and thanks to Covid and a few other factors, I asked our architect to scope out how we might add on a screened-in porch off the back of the house, about 12' (or 15') x 24'. We don't have a basement, so every inch of space is used, and even though I'd been trying to talk myself into a pergola, realistically the mosquitos would make it worthless.

Our architect has proposed 2 options - one with a hip roof and one with a shed roof. Are there advantages or disadvantages to either option? I'm guessing that the shed roof might be a bit less costly and offers more space for skylights (I am worried about the house becoming too dark, so that's a good thing.) But to my very untrained eye, the hip roof version seems to fit a little better. I've also included the elevation of the house as planned, without the porch.
