Dead 24 in gas oven; Replace or upgrade to 30? ideas?
Comments (6)I just had a 30" range with 30" oven installed this week. I've never had an oven this big before and I love it. I can bake two 9x13 pans of cinnamon rolls side by side, or two 10" pies side by side. In addition, with the convection feature I can bake sheets of cookies on multiple racks at the same time. We are a family of 4 and I do love to bake. I had even dreamed (before the sticker shock) of getting a 36" range/oven. But now that I have the 30" oven I think it seems perfect. So if I'm looking for a new house, I'll want a 30" oven. This seems like the new standard for functional (not showcase/mcmansion) "family" kitchens. That said, we had a tiny oven these past 12 years and I still managed to happily bake away. So as always with kitchen renovation, we are talking luxuries, not necessities....See Morekitchen cabinet upgrade & backsplash ideas
Comments (3)the cabinet fronts are about the best thing going for the space. Slab/nice stain/no warping chips or broken elements. Clean the cabs, get storage wire dividers, etc for the insides..make use of every inch and hope the time comes for a full remodel. Maybe take off the small knobs and see if you can get some modern handles on there using hole and adding another. Painting these will make the space look worse as the current feel is really fairly pleasant due to the cabinets...you paint those and you have a downgrade. Some issues like the old tile floor in a bad shade, older fridge and dishwasher, odd- altho tolerable microwave setup, lack of cooking vent, no base drawers are things that a paint job won't remedy and are the things which will be compelling before long. It's okay for now...leave it. I like it in sort of a curious way as you can get a lot in those tall uppers, which keeps it tidy looking.... and you can indeed cook....See Morefloor upgrade ideas?
Comments (9)@beverlyFLADesigner you are so right about paint! I’ve been wanting to paint it white or light gray but I love the color you show! It’s almost the same color as my dining room that you can see straight to. That would tie into the dark grout and look great! The room has paneling so I have been dreading painting it since it’s not an easy roller job, but I’m motivated!...See MoreNeed Small Budget Upgrade Ideas
Comments (12)As old vanities go, yours is pretty nice. I wouldn't bother to paint it. I don't even mind the black hardware, but if you keep it, think about mirrors with black frames. For me the things that look like they need a change are the mirrors/medicine cabinet and the lighting. The medicine cabinet with mirrors on either side is an odd look. You could invest in a change there and keep it when you remodel. If you need a medicine cabinet you could put one on the side where the towel bar is and have one large mirror wall to wall, or have one over each sink. Go for recessed this time. Or buy ones that can be hung either way. Hang them not recessed until you remodel. One thing to keep in mind is that newer vanities may be taller than what you have now. I don't know how tall the one you have is, but think about this before you hang new mirrors. If you can find inexpensive faucets for a refresh that wouldn't be a bad idea, either. The wall color isn't bad. If it needs to be refreshed, the same color would be OK, or look for a subtle green. Do you have a shower curtain in this bathroom? If so, choose a color from it if it has a pattern....See MoreBeth H. :
