Advice Please: How to measure for a kitchen sink on a corner cabinet

Hello! We're replacing our kitchen countertops and it affords the opportunity to also replace our undermount sink. I'm trying to determine the max size sink I can go with, and am not totally confident in how to determine that, considering our sink is on a corner. In looking at sinks, I see specs that say for instance, "minimum cabinet size of 33" - is that the front face, depth, cabinet opening? I'm sharing pics with various measurements below. Can someone please help me understand how to measure for a replacement sink? I'm looking at the Blanco Cascade Super Single, that appears to have a total opening size slightly smaller than I have now, but the minimum cabinet size reference is throwing me for a loop. Any guidance or advice is much appreciated!

Comments (69)Lisa - two KD people that I have spoken to said that the voided corner does not provide wider drawers on either side. What am I missing? Nothing as far as I can tell because what they are telling you makes no sense to me at all. If you don't give up 12" of linear space to a Susan, you gain 9" of drawer width (3" goes to spacer at corner). I considered adding a BCC to my sink corner (didn't have space on sink side to do corner Susan) but opted not to because a) it wasn't the right kind of storage for that corner and b) a drawer base was cheaper storage than a BCC. Here's my corner. Drawers & trash pull-outs open. If I had done a BCC, I would have lost the bank of drawers on the right. If I'd had room for a corner Susan, I would have lost 27" of much needed drawer storage. The few items that I would have been able to store in a BCC (ditto for a corner Susan) ended up in a a single drawer in a much roomier cab next to my wall oven. I use the items in the drawers in my prep zone much more regularly than the items I use in the drawer by my oven. A few extra steps now and then is a much better option than extra steps several times a day, IMO. Look at the whole picture when it comes to storage. I am planning my kitchen right now and I have a few questions hoping you can help. 1-From the left wall of sink to the wall of the fridge what are the measurements? 2-Do you have the actual measurements of the finished corner sink hack? Trying to map out my renovation and want to plan accordingly 3-What is the model of dishwasher? Do you recommend? 4-Do you think that's the biggest sink you can fit in the corner space or can it go a bit bigger? 5-Do you think a slide in range would make sense? Comments (22)I'm just going to say this in case - the wide Domsjö is two bowl sink. It never came any other way. Sektion has standard sized drawer fronts. Buy an extra 36" wide taller drawer front just in case you need it - you can always send it back. Sektion and Akrum cabinets had different sizes of drawer fronts. Stop by the kitchen area and ask about issues with installing the Domsjö sink in a Sektion cabinet. The Domsjö should come with replacement metal bar for the front & bar edges. The front metal bar takes the place of the top bar on the front and the back. You might need to cut down the back panel to fit under the bar. We did a simple reinforcement of the cabinet by adding plywood across the back on the inside of the cabinet under the bar and then attached the official cabinet back to the ply. Given a choice, I would buy ANY other white farmhouse sink and undermount kit. Eventho it's hundreds more. In our case, the sink wasn't quite deep enough - there was a wide gap between the sink and the wall in the back that was plugged with two tons of caulk. In the end, I named the sink the Rain of Terror because it dripped water everywhere and rotted the Ikea wood counter. If you use someone else's sink in an ikea cabinet, know that you may need to cut the cabinet top back as shown in @sh's photo because a 36" wide undermount sink is 36" wide at the front or near to it. The sink maker has an undermount kit (usually) that amounts to metal bars with screws under the sink. The bars stretch across the cabinet from side to side. Comments (9)Blanco 441986 is 30" with 28.5" interior and is 9" deep. It is more of a D shape though (other model numbers come with accessories like a grid or a cutting board). Don't get hung up on manufacturer's sink base size requirements please. If you strap your sink in place you don't need access to clips. This sink has been replaced with a larger one and now has the more desirable thinner front rail.
