Where do I hang a curtain rod?
Comments (14)I agree with all of the advice about hanging your drapes above the transom. Also make sure you hang them wide enough so that they stack off the windows when they are opened. Your drape should hang over the glass a couple of inches so most drapes stack about 11 inches wide when they’re open. You can buy wands that attach to the drape at the inside top for opening and closing so your little darlings won’t put their paws on your fabric. LOL. So glad you asked for advice before you put them too low and too narrow...See MoreShould I hang my curtain rod close to ceiling?
Comments (8)@Jan Moyer We are building a guest house with 10’ ceilings and i am planning to install outside mount woven shades and sheers as in your mockup photo. I have 2 more days to do any additional blocking for shades and curtain rods. see photo i planned to hang rods about 9” from ceiling in case we later add crown moulding Question 1: is this height ok? 2. Is this enough blocking? or need more? 3. For nearby kitchen and mudroom windows, should they also be outside mounted to provide the most light ? or since they wont have sheers, should they be inside mounted? thanks!...See More14 Feet Ceiling, How tall should I hang my curtain?
Comments (9)We need more info. What room is this, do you need privacy, will this drapes every be opened or closed? If you think they will every be opened or closed all they way to the ceiling will make it very hard for that to be done. I have 10 ft tall curtains that get closed a few times a year. My reach is 7 1/2 ft and it is difficult to slide the drapes. If they are only for looks, but them all the way to the ceiling....See MoreWhere should I hang side white sheer curtains?
Comments (18)I too like to have window treatments with a common theme in open spaces. Your blinds unify them and using the same panels continues that look. I see you do have the panel only rods I was thinking about. Looks great! Have fun with your new home - putting your personal stamp on it,...See MoreMJ White
