Curious about what happened to my Chamomile and English Lavender

A couple months ago I bought one chamomile seedling and one lavender seedling. I'm growing them on pots. My chamomile, which I sincerely don't know if it's German or Roman, was doing really bad on its original pot. The soil was too heavy and held water. So I transplanted the little plant to a huge vase with a draining soil. It isnt dead, but curiously enough, it hasn't grown an inch. The chamomile is always producing new leaves, but as they grow bigger, the tips of the leaves become brown and die back. I don't know why? I leave the plant days without water and when I water I only give it 250 ml.My english lavender is another funny case. Half of it died out of nowhere, but half of it is very alive and shooting new leaves. I don't over water it, though I admit I left water sit on the bottom of the vase without noticing at some point. That could have caused a bit of root rot. But why didn't it kill the whole plant, just half of it?Anyways, I'm curious about your takes on it. Those seedling were very cheap, so I can just replace them with new ones if they are beyond help! Thanks in advance :)
