Integrated Pest Management, what should be practiced by everyone not just organic growers, involves some steps beginning with, 1. Identify the problem. 2. Identify the cause of the problem. 3. Using the least toxic means available control the problem, if necessary. 4. Review and return to step 1 if necessary. So far you have identifed that something might be laying some eggs on a plant but have not yet determined if there is a problem. Is this plant being eaten by the eggs? Is there enough harm to the plant that something must be done? I understand that you are trying to take a proactive approach and possibly prevent a problem, but you may also be doing more harm since those eggs might be a beneficial insect and not a potential pest. Then if these might be a pest they may not do enough harm to warrant spraying something to control them and that control product may well do more harm by killing off any beneficial insects as well as any predators that could be around. If you cannot determine what is laying those eggs it is best to wait and see what hatches and then decide if they need control.

I'm now dealing with cracks in our poured concrete foundation. It seems that injected urethane is the way to go nowadays (if structural integrity is not compromised), since it can expand up to %50 of the size of the crack, thus keeping it sealed with any future movement. (The hydraulic cement would be worthless in the same scenario.) There are DIY kits online, but they seem kinda expensive - but what do I know. But then again, they are complete, ready-to-go kits. I found a local supplier who sold me the urethane and some injection ports. I got some lessons from them, and the main thing in my case is to be sure the crack is wet sufficiently and completely throughout since that's what the urethane reacts with. You fill the cracks from bottom to top through ports that are glued onto the surface of the crack. There's a way to wet the crack through the ports, as well. Soem urethanes are "two-part", which I "think" means the water or other reactant is injected and mixed at teh same time as the urethane. Kind of a double-barrel caulk gun. Search for "crack injection" and "foundation repair" on the web and you'll fid lots of stuff and some "how to" video clips. Search the yellow pages under foundation repair, basement waterproofing suppliers, etc. for local folks.

Depending on the color, I read that sprinkling flour into the sink will show cracks. Below is the thread that it's mentioned in. I have anthracite, so i'm not sure if it came in like that or if it happened during install. All I can say is that a week after I sent pictures and proof of purchase, I was sent a BRAND NEW SINK. The crack is in a spot where it doesn't matter to me and isn't clear through, so until something happens or the sink gets very old, the new one is in my garage. It is undermount, so not exactly an easy fix;-) If you get a dark color, take white flour and dust the whole thing with it. Swish it around and if there is a crack, it will show with the flour. Definately not grout settling, there is a crack line of 10-12" or so there if you blow up the photo. THIS REQUIRES A tile professional in your home to assess. Not a handyman ...a tiler that tiles showers for a living with a proven record of shower building.
