Get the fridge and single cab off that wall. Extend the peninsula and place sink on that side . Use long wall for range and fridge . Effectively a galley kitchen and peninsula can have your overhang if that’s what you desire.. there may even be a better layout yet to be discovered but not the one you Have. ikea will work just fine spend on beautiful floor and counters/ looks to be a pass thru kitchen unless you do something .

a fridge on a long wall shouldn't totally block people behind and around. . You do have a pass thru kitchen. Options: french door fridge ...better placement. along that wall.....better aisle dimensions......eval of overall traffic flow. A kitchen project is the time to BETTER the situation. Your best use of this site is to post the areas adjacent to kitchen in the home and look realistically at various options.

So this kitchen (and den that is on the other side of the current wall) was an addition to the original house so it’s closed off from the rest of it except through that entry to the dining room. My biggest problem with the kitchen now is lack of counter space. I really only have that space between the sink and stove to prep on, and it’s small. So I thought adding the peninsula would solve that. On the other side of the peninsula I would like to add a table - looking to do a banquette type of seating. I was looking for a comfy place to eat most of our meals - I have two young kids. But also a spot that could be a more open, casual hang out place when I have people over. I thought that was a good spot for the fridge because it would allow people to get to it from the table and couch area without getting in the way in the kitchen. This is what I was thinking. This is where we spend most of our time - the front of the house has an office, dining room, and more of a formal living room.

so from the dining room entry is the only way in/out? correct? then when coming thru that passage you would have it open to the left to pass thru to your new social banquette/seating venue...I see a couch so you want a gathering area I assume. Skip the peninsula fixed to the wall instead a large island with traffic moving around....seating for several or just a couple stools or just work island w storage and sink..no seating.... are options with that. Difficult to read your numbers and notations . I'd do the one long wall and center an island w sink and you still have room for a banquette, or table, really.....but just not behind the peninsula . No peninsula....traffic comes in and moves that way, as you have a living space over there. you don't want every passage every time from every person passing thru work part of kitchen. You also dont need 68 in aisle so the long wall w island configuration will "tighten up", which will leave you more room beyond for that venue.

Herbflavor - thank you so much. We have cabinets to the left right now with a wall where I was thinking peninsula - so I just thought to open up that wall, but keep the basic layout. And yes, couch is there for a gathering area too. I probably should have said my numbers were just kind of like my first thought “would this all fit in here”, so I’m not sure they are accurate as far as what exactly happens with kitchen cabinets.
