I think the dogs should tell you to move the sectional over by one foot. Then there will be room for the rug for them to land on when they roll off the sectional!

There is plenty of room for a rug near the chair.

You don’t have to have rugs, really it’s fine. Not to mention your floor is beautiful.

But if you would like to have one, could a rug go in this area? I’m trying to understand the space + your layout.

Ok, I see the vent on the other side of sectional. You could get a piece of the rug cut out. Or just don’t extend the rug over that far. This seems like a bit of an awkward seating arrangement, though. Is there another place in the room for the sectional? Perhaps on wall where tv is?

Could sectional go in this spot/on this wall?

And you could mount tv on articulating arm or put tv in front of windows, or maybe on a ceiling mount. Is tv over fireplace?

Not a Pro.

There are vent deflectors or vent extenders. Not sure if this would work in your case, but if your able to put the sofa over a vent and it deflects the air, this could be an option.

Flip the room layout and use the room as one large room. There is no natural division for two seating areas. Float the sectional with its back to all the doorways. Anchor it against a sofa table on that end if there is room. Relocate TV to left pf porch doors. The sectional can now sit on an area rug and you can have a cocktail table/coffee table to boot. This will create an actual seating area. Your dogs will have a great view out the windows to boot.

I would not float the sofa with back to entries and windows + its back to the fireplace - with a view of a tv in a corner.

From a Feng Shui perspective, I prefer not to float the sofa at all, if it can be avoided.

So this sectional placement - with sectional facing the windows and main entry as well as facing the fireplace, anchored on this wall would be my first choice if feasible.

With a possible additional seating area on the other side of the room

Or alternatively, float the sectional this way, with a sofa table to anchor it.

If the tv is over the fireplace, you can possibly use this mount. There is also a motorized option.

Oops I did not see there was a fireplace on the wall there. Flip it. Is your TV where it says cabinets? You are doing this room no favors by sanctioning the furniture to the walls.

Can you take a picture standing at the middle of each wall photo the wall opposite you so we can see what we are dealing with.

I am attaching more photos of the room to give a better idea of its layout. We are just moving in, and the old furniture doesn't work here. One issue is that the chaise is on the wrong side of the sofa for this room. What I am probably going to do is live with this arrangement for a few years and then remodel. It's functional for

Float the sectional in front of your patio doors. Leave roughly three feet as a walking path behind it so you have access to the door. Anchor with a rug.
