You are lucky that your cabinets are not honey oak, that orange builder-grade color. Yours actually look like they have a nice dark stain. Painting, prep, etc is a lot of work. Your other finishes are nice too, dark pulls, pretty granite. Would you consider just doing a very pretty light backsplash? If you do go with paint, be sure to use BM cabinet coat. It will help cover the grain, though probably not all. There are many posts here on GW to help you with the process. With your brown granite you might look at BM Bone White. If you are looking for whites, lean toward the warmer whites. Someone in the past posted her kitchen using Farrow and Ball Pigeon. I love this green and think it could compliment your floor and granite.

Years ago Country Living magazine featured on the cover a beautiful fireplace in a beautiful dining room. Three or four years later I was fortunate to visit that very house. To our immense surprise-and major disappointment-the color of the fireplace mantle was nothing close to the beautiful dark green we had loved on the magazine cover. The professional lighting of the photographer had transformed a dingy, boring green into a green I couldn’t get out of my mind. Take that picture you like to SW or BM and find several swatches that appeal to you for their closeness to the picture. Buy three or four different samples and paint poster board or large pieces of drywall and look at them in your room, on different sides of the room at different times of day. Look at them in sunlight and on cloudy days and under artificial lighting. My husband didn’t like the blue I picked for the island-until he saw that in certain light, it was the exact shade of blue on the north side of the island.

are these the floors? are the lowers going to have a stain? it appears light woods are your theme so picking the uppers in a light or white paint is dependent on your lighting/ amt of UV etc. if the lowers are staying light you could pick the same for uppers as mentioned ....then focus on counters and backsplash for your whites or stone patterns etc.
