Definitely, No to a sectional. This is such a pretty room but it is not suited to the TV above the fireplace. The club chairs seem too big for the space. Can you post a picture of the adjoining rooms? Is that a doorway where you are standing to take the picture?

I would consider putting the TV in your other living room, which will also let you separate TV noise from kitchen noise. i do not think there enough room for a sectional.

Have you thought of placing the sofa facing the fireplace/tv? Would it fit? If yes, maybe the chairs could go on either side of the fireplace?

Thank you all for the responses.i was standing in the dining area when taking the picture- kitchen, dining, family room are open to each other as one rectangle along the back side of the house. The room adjacent to the family room is a little smaller than this room and honestly not used for much- we have a few bookcases and a loveseat in there. I agree the club chairs are too big.

No to sectional. How many adults use this space every day? I would move the chair closest to fireplace to the smaller living area. Get a compact swivel chair for that spot in a a interesting look.

I suggested moving the tv to the adjacent room since I suspected it was an underused room, and putting the tv there would mean it would get used, plus you could put it at a better height for viewing. then your fireplace room could be a nice room for conversation, reading, and enjoying the fire. just something to think about.

None of that seating looks right for the size or features of the room. This is where I might do a 4-chair grouping around a hassock or coffee table. Put TV and a chaise sofa in the other room with maybe one swivel chair.

Here are some ideas. I would look for some wallpaper to line the backs of the cabinets as shown in a soft coral to brighten up the cabinets and give a nice background for collectables and some books. I found a open base swivel chair to lighten the look of the space. Found some pillows and a few stacking coffee tables for in front of the sofa. Put a pair of black textured vases on mantel beside TV for contrast and interest.

To me it seems like it would be a lot more comfortable if you removed one of those white cabinets and put in a corner unit tv cabinet. Then, certainly get more comfortable loungey furniture. It doesn’t have to be a sectional it could have a chaise off the near side which would allow some stretching out.

I believe that the room isn't large enough for a sectional and would severely limit traffic patterns.

Thinking out of the box, what if you closed the doors between the two rooms. You could get an L-shaped sectional but you really have to watch the size and depth. Nothing bulky. I’m showing an 8 ft x 8 ft-3in. Pottery Barn has a selection of sectional and sofas for small spaces like the one pictured.

If you removed the wall between the living room and family room you would have a nice size space.

Can you stand at the fireplace and take photos of the other 2 corners of the room? I'm trying to figure out how the traffic path goes through this room from the kitchen.

Is your issue that the seating is not well placed, or that that is not comfortable? Maybe you just want to buy new furniture in the same place, that is more comfortable.
