'Distant Thunder' has blossoms of pinkish/lavender tones that contrast beautifully with its burgundy-hued stems and foliage. It's been in my garden for 3 years and was very small when it was planted since it came as a tiny band from Heirloom. It's taken this long to become established and this past summer it finally started blooming well for me. I can't comment on the BS resistance since I spray, but it is a very lovely and graceful bush.

I think she will send a private message with lists and prices. i believe her regulars run around $65 each and these are all 5yo roses cut down hard while dormant. I’m expecting I won’t be ordering any but figured I’d ask anyway.

Chicago Botanical Garden, zone 5b has a big bed of Distant Drums. They were grafted on Dr.Huey and I was impressed at how much they bloom and super-healthy in loamy soil. Joey in zone 4, Wyoming grows State of Grace (Distant Drum x About Face). About Face is EXTREMELY VIGOROUS as own-root in my zone 5a. I got so tired of it being over 7 feet tall for the past 5 years that I pruned it down to the crown.

@DDinSB (Z10b Coastal CA) Here is a pic of my Stephen Rulo before he gets the top chopped off. Look down to see the small shoot that's emerging... that's Stephen. The rest is the multiflora understock, which will be cut off right above the shoot Here is Oksana, a budded maiden I received a year ago. Look down at the base, and you'll see an old cut-off stem, which was the understock I cut off. And here is one of the Westminster Pinks I sent budwood to Steve for, and received a year ago. It's pretty easy to see where the understock was cut off. I just trimmed this one a couple of days ago Hope this helps you picture budded maidens! (as always, click on the pics to enlarge)
