10k on awning or something like Kitchen/Bath renovations?

Our 1954 rancher has a 40x20 awning running along the back of it. It has a concrete pad and is a super useful space considering it protects us from Western sun, we don't have a garage, and we have little kids. It's in bad shape and is decently ugly but not in danger of imminently falling down. We are hoping this is a long term home (like the next 40 yrs).In sum: Would it be silly to spend 10k on having it redone or should we just hit it with some white paint until it is eventually destroyed in some weather event? We could use the money to do kitchen countertops or fix up a dated bathroom instead. Or do something more functional like get an old oil tank removed, get rid of a tree, upgrade the furnace filter, etc. Mortgage has 13 more years on it.
