Do I need pattern here or not? Photos
Comments (26)Spiceislands, I don't mean to be rude, and I do appreciate all input, but I am trying to figure out what you mean. I posted pictures of the entire space and close-ups of the furniture so one can see the colors and textures and art already there. Are you suggesting a different sort of photography or angle? ( I did remove one picture just now that showed the view from the island into the great room, because I was working on my photobucket account). So I'm not sure what you mean by my style is unknown. I think with the kitchen that I showed, the metal barstools with purple blue fabric, modern pendants, the large red sectional with a zebra rug, the EA Radius recliner with mensware fabric, the brazillian cherry floors, the art work with black frames, one could say my style is soft contemporary/transitional with bold colors and a love of animal prints. However, one animal print per space is enough for me. We would like the dinette area to not feel very solid. I also like the look of a glass table with modern chairs with a traditional rug, but DH doesn't like traditional rugs very much. I don't like glass unless there is a warm feeling coming from a great warm rug anchoring it. We could use another rug because of echos. I sort of like the idea of a very large cream colored rug in the livingroom part, but not the maintenance....See MoreDo I need a rug? What kind?
Comments (32)Now about that rug question! Haha! If the lounge area works out this way, you want a rug in that area that the front legs of the sofa sit on rug and rug runs behind legs about 6-9”. It should extend past end of sofa about 6” too. For your space a rug about 6x9’. You can mark floor with painter tape and then measure to get proper size. The only other rug you need is a 5x4 for where you step out of bed. It should slide under the bed a foot and clear doors....See MoreWhat color and type of rug do I need for my great room
Comments (9)Look at Soumak rugs. I had numerous Soumak rugs (most by Kalaty) in our last home - laundry room (photo here), breakfast area, living room, dining room, foyer and a guest bedroom. Several doormats coming in from back veranda also. Several are still used in our new home. They are not as soft as wool, but they are not scratchy. 3 dogs, 4 cats, 2 grandchildren and 1 DH, and they still look brand new. They come in all sizes. They repel dirt and liquids wipe up easily. How big is your room? It looks like you could bump up to a larger rug, say a 9x12 or a 10 x 14....See MoreWhat type/color rug do I need?
Comments (5)it’s really a fun print. You can either pick your favorite color umbrella and go with that color — but do it a pattern mixed with blacks or browns so it can handle dirt — or you could pick a multi-colored rug, as colorful as the umbrellas — or just play it safe with a tweedy kind of dark rug that is good for an entryway. I think a narrow metal console table, or metal and glass, would be nicer than wood for the entry...See MoreCelery. Visualization, Rendering images
