While I love all kinds of music, the 60's and 70's were my formative years and R&R is in my blood. Pretty much any kind of classic rock will do for me. And I tend to sing along....as long as no one else - dog excepted - is listening :-) Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody will get me every time and I have been known to sit in the car until it finishes playing, ala Wayne's World. Yes, I have a case of arrested development :-)

Haha, I think the most commonly used meaning of this word, widely popularized because of its usage in the title of an Austin Powers movie, suggests something other than what I think you intended to say.

Hah, I do believe I'm the only person I know who detests Queen. They give me a headache, literally.

I voiced that once to hubby, step-father and brother and other members of the family and they were all stunned. Hubby teased me any time a Queen song came on the radio. He and my brother and step-father went to see 'We Will Rock You' and of course loved every minute of it.

No, you're not. There are lots of us around.

I respect the ability of guitarist Brian May (who has a PhD in astrophysics, surprisingly), he's one of rock music's all time greats. I dislike all of the group's songs, each and every one. I like the guitar parts but find the songs grating and shrill.

I've said before that music is my life-long passion. I like almost all performers who have contributed to popular music in my lifetime and almost all types. There is a short list of groups I strongly dislike and cannot listen to at all:

Queen

Grateful Dead

Doobie Brothers

Eagles

LOL, two of Elmer's groups I've loved forever, and three I 'hated,' probably because they were so over-played everywhere. I've mellowed in my 6th decade, and now I can enjoy works by those three groups as well.

Another group from that era that I used to ignore but rediscovered as I mellowed, is Steely Dan. Like Rikki (don't loose that number), I had a change of heart :-)

gardengal, I guess we won't be going to any concerts together for any of those groups. I could have added AC/DC and any other metal-like power chord band to my NO list but it was getting too long.

Steely Dan's earlier, more melodic stuff is okay. Later on, they gave greater (and I'd say, excessive) emphasis to unusual jazz-like chords and progressions, less melodic and too much tension for me.

And Elmer, I deeply regret never attending a Queen or AC-DC concert when I had the chance. Both appeared here in Seattle in the same year - that would have been memorable!!

I've been a regular concert goer for decades and there's no need to be concerned about what the audience peer group may be that you get immersed. in.

Because, groups and artists from the 60s-80s who have remained active and can perform capably often attract their old fans and not so many new ones. As a mid-era baby boomer, it's not unusual to see many in the crowd who seem older then me, rocking out now (as I do) as they would have 30 or more years ago.

As a child of the 60's, I adore all the music from that decade and most of the 70's. ALL the Beatles and S&G, the Byrds, the Stones, the Four Tops, the Temptations, ABBA. We saw the Broadway show Mama Mia,. What a happy show. We were all up dancing(except for husbands) .My favorite song of all is not a happy one but I love it. MacArthur Park by Richard Harris. We stopped Sirius awhile back where I had the 60 and 70's stations programmed. Now we listen to Apple play or Pandora and I love anything from the period. Do not like today's"music".

I’m not a Queen fan either. I saw them at Madison Square Garden when I was a kid. Lord knows how our parents let us go. My friends liked them.

I saw David Bowie there three times. I can’t even begin to explain how fantastic he was! I am a lifelong fan. I saw Led Zeppelin and U2 (also not in my favorites).

The Pretenders. Joe Cocker. Elvis Costello. Others as well were great to see.

I wish I had seen The Rolling Stones, The Allman Brothers and Bob Marley.

I feel so.....so......ostracized.

But if that's the best that can be done while avoiding specious insults, it's okay. Actually, okay either way and silly just the same.

Not a Queen fan at all, so can't speak to that, but did see Adam in concert before he started doing the tribute stuff and WOWEE!! what a show! I was sad when he started doing Queen stuff because I don't get to enjoy him anymore.
