Thanks to everyone who has responded. I have found my supply for this year and providing that the weather is favorable should have a good number of Dade beans to share for next year. My friend said that the company that originally sold them was sold years ago and that it has become harder and harder to find them. I can still find great reviews about them on the web but the number of available sources is extremely limited. Always great when you can keep the heirlooms going! Share and save. Ann in TN

Please help me choose interior doors: some solid/some hollow?

I don't know that you can get a real looking Shaker hollow door because the flat recessed panel area would have to be very thin in cross section. In my experience the raised panel portion of a hollow door is much thicker than the raised panel on a solid wood door, almost as thick as the stiles and rails themselves in cross section. Stylistically I don't think a 6 raised panel will work well on closets with the Shaker on the room doors. In a hierarchical sense, the Room door is the Primary door and should be fancier or more detailed than closet doors if they are not all going to match. I see nothing wrong, if you are not matching doors, with using a Shaker door on the room door and using plain slab doors in a paint grade with a good paint job on them for the closets, so that the closets take a stylistic back seat to the room doors. As for hollow vs. solid. I am strongly biased toward solid even for pocket doors. It is the hanging hardware and the workmanship of the hang that dictates their proper function, not the weight of the doors. The houses in my neighborhood have pocket doors that are 10 feet tall and four feet wide that are Very heavy. But you have to get good hardware, have a good carpenter do the install, and *make *sure * the *finish *carpenters *don't *nail *the *baseboards* and *door *casings *through the *drywall *and *into *the *pocket *doors *themselves*. Back in the 70's when I was young and, in the words of Moms Mabley, "just as cute as I wanted to be," I had a dress that suited me right down to the ground...it was a narrow winter white cotton sheath with a mandarin collar and a long, wide sash, and it was covered in big black Asian calligraphic characters. I wore it and wore it, until one day I was standing in the will-call line at the theatre, feeling fabulous, and a Chinese family walked by, did a quick double-take, and burst out laughing. I will never know what my dress said, but I didn't wear it again outside my house!

Our intention was to get the questions answered for those who posted yesterday & today...so they don't roll off in a matter of hours. Since we don't know what's going on, we thought this might be a temporary solution until we heard more. If it becomes a long drawn out process, then, yes, we need to move on. However, posting about a finished kitchen or just to mention a new product isn't critical right now...we want to be able to respond to those who are in the middle of problems. If the threads come and go too quickly, then we can't help. I did notice, though, that we're up to Page 5. Whether that means we're rebuilding the pages, I don't know. But it's not just a matter of missing pages, I think it's a matter of missing threads that just happened to reduce the # of pages down to 4 (and now 5). Several of us have noticed that threads that should be in the first 4 pages are missing and there are gaps of hours b/w posts...which we all know is extremely rare on this forum. So, no, this is not a long-term solution, it's a very temporary stop-gap measure to help those who need it most right now. I'd say if we don't hear more positive info by this time tomorrow or know for sure that nothing further is being lost, then we should resume "business as usual".

The only thing I've ever flagged is spam. Remember the early morning movie promoters? That was like whack a mole and I enjoyed it.

I have never flagged a real reply from anyone on this forum and I doubt I ever will. I believe in free speech and vigorous debates. I actually wish public schools taught debate skills as part of the curriculum.

It is entirely possible to read an opposing viewpoint without having your head explode.

I've flagged some stuff over the years. Spam, sometimes miscatagorized stuff. Sometimes posts that are seriously abusive, derogatory, insulting.. sometimes trolling, or stirring the pot sorts of posts.

Houzz got some pretty lax rules, and sparse moderation. To a large extent, we members are expected and should abide by the rules we all agree to as members here. To my understanding, there are also paid memberships and those have additional rules.

To a great extent, we do seem to be a fairly good self regulating forum here.

One of the few upgrades I wish Houzz would do is include a comment box with their reporting system. A report system can be a useful tool for members and staff- but not when it's just a couple check box options and zero commentary box.

Commentary box gives a back end moderation viewpoint of reports too- like when folks just click off a lot of option only without making commentary to support their spamming the report system.

In a couple of other forums that I belong to people are using older, 5 to 10 years older posts to post comments that for more information click on a link. I also leave a message that I think it is spam then allow overnight for the person to delete before I flag. Some of them have been legitimate and will tell you that their message was not spam then I delete my message, if I remember having posted.

I suggest everyone use the link in the OP to contact Houzz, protesting removal of threads with no explanation provided as to how the thread was an abuse of rules. I've just made my complaint via the form provided on the help site.

I'm sure the complaints will fall on deaf ears. It seems the powers-that-be are more interested in the free crowd-sourced moderation of spam messages being deleted than in stopping people who get their widdle feewings hurt by someone posting facts they'd rather ignore from disrupting the forum experience for everyone else.

People have also frequently asked for an "ignore button" that simply remove responses from a specific given poster no longer appear to them. This would accomplish the same thing for those who are bothered by a post, without being disruptive to other forum readers.

I have actually managed to implement this locally using carefully crafted rules in the ad-blocking software I have installed. Now for me any replies to posts from a short list that I've decided never have anything worthwhile to add to any conversation never even appears to me.
