How do I paint this weird small continuing wall??
Comments (5)I think it's hard to tell since the photos don't show the whole room, but I'm guessing the wall with the three pictures is the FR and the valance area is the kitchen? You have a dilemna here! The little ledge wall looks like it runs into your kitchen right? The problem I see is there isn't a natural stop from the FR wall so you're going to have a strip if you don't make that color the FR wall color. But,if it runs across your kitchen, it may look odd too. How about you paint both rooms the same color? Or pick a slightly lighter color for the FR. That way it will all blend in nicely. It seems like these two rooms are fairly connected, so having them coordinate with the same paint color or very similar colors may keep them in sync. My first house had a very open plan with the the outside kitchen wall running the full width of the house into the FR. The hall wall shared the kitchen as well, so for three areas, they all shared walls that made it next to impossible to paint the areas anything other than the same color or I'd have stripes down the wall where one ended and the other started. At least your stripe would only be 3-4"! Goodluck with paint day!...See MoreWhat to do eith weird space between stairs and wall??
Comments (40)I'm guessing the top right corner is an optical illusion and not moulding that's not attached. I think that piece is actually trim on the perpendicular wall. Same for the two pieces where the stairs turn. Looks like they used a wide board where the balusters attach at the bottom to beef it up. As for the skirting missing on the left, it's also missing on the right. That's a builder cutting corners, not a design choice. I have the same on my stairs to my unfinished basement. Stairs are carpeted wall to wall with no skirting. Doesn't bother me since it's the basement, but for this, your sheetrock walls are going to get dinged up....See Moreweird wide hallway and an area rug?
Comments (8)Funny, I’ve tried a runner now. Too skinny! Again looks weird! So know I’m trying two 4 x 6 together and that seems the right size. Now for the color! The one in my original photo doesn’t come in that size, so no choice.....but have to say I like the look of the tone on tone instead of something bright. I want a soothing look, so I’m looking for something with a little green/blue and beige not as impactful as a quiet look. Maybe I’m crazy!...See MoreWeird Mirror and Lighting in old bathroom - not sure what to do
Comments (1)Honestly, you are putting way to much into a space you will have to return back to OG when you move out. As far as the paint goes you get a color match done heck even ask the LL what color it was for touch-ups or something. Im not sure why you need to change it, and you are getting into stuff that is not really "quick rental fix" I could tell you a lot about how to do it but I really am wondering why you would want to put this much into changing 2 lights and a mirror, I think the mirror is really cute, fits the space Now you can buy plain frosted glass to put in place of that glass that is on the current light fixtures, upgrade the light bulbs and that would be a good start....See Moreliz
