You could go either way. The two double windows should not have shutters. I like it as it is. Plus, once the landscaping is done the house will come together.

Make sure you have a variety of heights, color and texture. No plant should be closer to the side of the house than one foot at maturity. So check how large the plant will likely grow before it is put in the ground.

I am in the class of those that love shutters, and think that some homes need them. However, I do not think that yours does. Shutters would make the front look too cluttered. Instead, I would do some strategic landscape planting. Maybe add some window boxes on the lower level. Or even build a front porch off to the side.

You know, now that I have seen Beverly's mock-up, I am leaning toward the shutters! LOL Make sure that they are not too skimpy.

The bottom line is that you should go with the look that YOU like! Don't worry about what others think.

What makes the house look bare is the lack of landscaping . What is your design style ? IMO window boxes are right up there with shutters you either have a house that suits them or not .IMO your house needs a front porch from the bumpout to the end of the left wall. Then get to work on a landscaping plan.

I think the shutters add a perfect finishing touch to your house.

Shutters on the single width windows for sure. And, have you considered adding a roof or awning over your front door to give protection during inclement weather for people coming in and out?

I agree that the landscaping looks a little bare-did someone go through and already get rid of items that lined the house? Maybe an over zealous partner? :)

Also wonder about the black door. Personally, a blue door with a gabled awning would add a really nice WOW factor to your home. I otherwise worry it might look too similar to others in your neighborhood.

My two cents: 1 word. 4 letters. Pink! I think it would really add some pizazz and make it stand out on Evergreen Terrace. Pink shutters or frames? Or why not both?

Alternative idea or, dare I say, additive, idea: streaks of yellow coming off of the arched window - let the neighbors know you're living on the bright side of life!
