Pantry door - latch door or traditional?
Comments (16)Have you considered a pair of narrow solid wood closet doors (painted or finished to match your cabinets) -- with regular hinges, albeit perhaps smaller in size -- doors which can accept any kind of handle/knob you choose and at any height -- and then use magnetic latches -- strong double ones if needed? You could even add a pair of plain wide horizontal handles -- one on each door -- that could also be used as towel bars (one for hands and the other for dishes) while you're cooking meals. Putting another pair on the inside of the door could give you a place to put them out of sight (and pooch reach) when not needed. https://www.build.com/signature-hardware-945977-4/s1567260?uid=3745206&source=gg-gba-pla_3745206!c958978462!a49328669162!dc!ng&ds_rl=1275595&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIgteWkpXF5gIVUT0MCh1qxwB4EAkYByABEgKtVfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds https://inandouthome.com/products/kimberly-bay-interior-door-colonial-6-panel?variant=42336837588&currency=USD&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5pHF5ZTF5gIVxZyzCh1oIAljEAkYBCABEgKZivD_BwE Really like that you're creating access to the corner base cabinet from outside the kitchen. Great idea. Perfect place to store a large ice chest and/or picnic basket and/or just infrequently used larger cooking/serving items. If you're going to use that deeper cabinet corner cabinet for smaller items or recycle bins, you could build a rolling cart that you can store inside behind the closed doors but pull out as needed to reach more. Just in case this is something you need to discuss with your builder(s): ... Would NOT have that elongated angled seam in the corner of the countertop at the beginning of the peninsula (as shown in your example pic). Instead, have any seam left of the stove top straight from front to back. Keep the peninsula/bar countertop from wall to angle one rectangle.Keep as many large rectangles whole (without angle) as you can....See More2 part q: interior doors, pantry door

Comments (2)I debated this same thing awhile back. See my post: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/5835408/cabinet-pull-placement-on-30-pantry-cabinet-doors I ended up going with knobs on top and pulls on the bottom. I wanted to put the bottom pull centered at the rail and stile but it felt too low, so I put it higher and I don't regret it at all. As Flo Mangan advised me at the time: Stand in front of cabinet and extend hand to comfortable place on cabinet and center pull at that spot. We are very happy with where we placed the pull and that's because it is comfortable to use....See MoreArched pantry door/all other door frames standard rectangular?
Comments (16)I had pocket door(s) in an arched opening. Paired doors in an arched opening will work because you can take out the stop, and pull the rectangular door out of the pocket and get it out without tearing up the wall. For this pocket door to be success, the door would have to be completely finished and then built into the pocket and the wall finishes put over it. And woe betide it if something happens you would need access to the pocket, at least in part to get this whole thing out. A pocket would not work well in the position that door is in. If you want to do an arched door like that, just do a conventional hinged arched opening. It will be much easier. And I don't want to assume anything about your budget, but the millwork around arched doors or windows, particularly if you want it to match the profile of the other casings in the house . . . semi to full custom....See Morechloebud
