grout decision--help!?! finished pics anyone?
Comments (6)Unfortunately our 2 week renovation is at least a full week behind schedule, but at least that meant I had an extra day to figure out grout... I did a sample of the Laticrete "Smoke Grey" and it's the one! I don't know if it's just the specific tile we're using or something, but the "Silver Shadow" looks so much better in the pics I've seen on this forum than it did in my sample. @Bill--Thanks for the info! I've read so many of your posts and the FAQ's and they've been invaluable in this process! This afternoon I begin the quest for your recommended sealants. :) Thank you all for the photos and the links. They're beautiful, and were really great references. And they made me really long for the end of this project! So now what do I do with three almost full boxes of varying colors of grey grout that I don't plan on using? Comments (13)White grout should be illegal!! I have struggled with it in both a kitchen and now in the master bath (I didn't pick the grout the second time. It was there when we moved in). Those are both applications where you will live to rue white grout and find it increasingly more aggravating with each passing day! It is so much work to keep it clean (and the longer you are there, the harder that difficult job becomes!), I am looking at having my master bath regrouted. The darker the grout, the more forgiving in terms of showing grime, mildew, etc. Those all white bathrooms look beautiful on the day of installation but the honeymoon doesn't last long!...See MoreTec grout...gray for white and black bathroom...which gray??
Comments (8)Thank you guys. I really appreciate your help. My brain is fried and this decision has to be made immediately. gthigpen....I freaked out when I realized that the white was going to be a mistake. I cancelled it just in time but they are waiting on me to call in the color so it can be ordered. Sad for you that you didn't catch it...I hate regrets. My dd did the same thing with penny tile and white grout. A sea of white. Ugh. It's still pretty but she hates it. Gthigpen and Jackie...I see that you are using several colors of grout. I don't have that in me and I don't have a designer to advise me. I wish I did. Do you think it will be ok to choose one grout color i.e.; Silverado...and use it on all of the tile in three different bathrooms for simplicity's sake??? I have subway in two showers and in one tub surround. And the black and white on three floors and two shower floors. Here are some pics. Please advise and thank you so much for any wise words....See MoreGrout color for blue gray tile backsplash
Comments (16)now that its fully dry, my concern wirh the rain on the sample board is that it seems to dry with dark and light areas. almost an uneven color. (?) to me, it looks like the middle is darker than the sides. the rain is the top sample. white and frost are split on the bottom sample. its only the sample he did, but if that were the case and it dries uneven in color, should I do the frost, which is a light gray? its the bottom right. no one in the house likes the avalanche white. I dont hate it, but I do find it the most contrasting of the 3. i realized that the rain grout is sanded. avalanche and frost is undanded. rain doesnt come in unsanded. Im not sure if i should use the rain if it is going to dry looking uneven in color. uuugghhh!!! not sure what ro do here Rain is top line...See MoreMarissa Martinez
