Thank you all so very much for this wonderful input! I'm actually surprised at the number of people who say they prefer the house as it is now, with the off-white trim. I've been driving around our neighborhood checking out color schemes, and I must say that when I pull up to my own house, I don't dislike it now. I just can't help wondering how it would look with a bit of a change, though. A friend did the house up for me in two different mockups - one in light turquoise and the other in a darker turquoise (with the added feature of windowboxes, which I think is fab), and I really love those options as well. My dad, who I consider to have a terrific eye, says he likes the deep green but is not liking the red at all. After having driven around my neighborhood and looked at a number of houses with red trim, I'm not so sure about that as an option now either. Seems like red is something you have to get juuuuuust right, or it can go all wrong. I guess that's true with any color, but seems to be extra true with red, for some reason! I wouldn't mind seeing a mockup with shutters too ... but I don't want to seem greedy with my Photoshopping requests. ;-D

I just measured, and it’s 36 inches from the edge of the fireplace to the door trim on the right-hand side, In 24 inches from the edge of the left side to the window trim. In order to be symmetrical both sides should be 24 inches. I’m thinking a single cabinet base, with open book shelves above, Would work. I’d be ever so grateful if someone could mock that up, so I could get a sense of the look/scale.

Sometimes you can understand color relationships better by putting the samples together. If it doesn't work that way, it won't work on the house. Just be aware that colors get stronger and darker as the sample size gets larger and they change with horizontal vs vertical orientation to the light but not enough to overcome a poor color relationship. What I have very little confidence in is visualizing colors on a computer screen. It simply too inaccurate to be useful. I have always relied on taking color samples to the site or at least outdoors. I think focusing on color descriptions and computer mockups is a specious approach. Personally I think the dullness of most of these stain colors contrasted with the brightness of the white trim is distracting. I would wrap the corners with the shingles or at least paint the trim a more subdued color. Here is a house on the cape that takes advantage of a more subtle trim color and shingle shapes.

Thank you Celerygirl for all of the mock ups....they are so appreciated! I['m still unsure at this point but what are your thoughts on shutters? Also, what is the closest Sherwin Williams color to your suggested Benjamin Moore Timber Wolf? I tried to google it with no success. I'm still so torn, Granite Peak was always my top but maybe a Gray is what I should go with? I literally can't sleep with this hanging over my head but I'm going to try, and probably like in the past, I'll dream of color and paint yet again! jck910 & katinparadise - I so appreciate your feedback too. Do you know what Sherwin Williams paint color is closest to BM Storm by chance? When you mentioned the blues weren't resonating with you, can you be more specific on the paint samples I have on my house? I wasn't sure if you were looking solely at the mock ups or those as well? (And I know have some dark blues in there) as well as some lights, the one on the left up top (Poolhouse) is my fiance's favorite but it's been a NO for me almost immediately. LOL Thank you all again, and please respond if/when you can, I greatly appreciate it.
