A noisy spot to live in so close to the road

My sons sudden acceleration from a relaxed amble to a prize winning sprint brought this critters accommodation to my attention a couple of weeks ago. The loud buzz shortly afterwards.

I completely lost sight of him as he hurtled down the road waving his arms frantically, and it was a few minutes before he re-emerged to explain it’s impossible to outrun wasps when they’re trapped in your hood.

He’d been forced to do an impromptu strip in the street, and apparently had provided some amusement for a young Mum out walking her toddler. I have to say I ended up fairly chuffed by the whole incident too:)

I have seen exoskeletons stuck to foliage but not taken any pictures. The cicadas are sooo loud this summer they actually drown out the birds.

Came back to edit: Providence! The Lord provides!! There on my way into Mass this morning hanging on the cement a Cicada!!!

My grand daughter letting out one of her most piercing screams a few years ago... which I encouraged, for her to let it all out. :)

Children's laughter, playing is a big puddle. The best part was that there was no words from their parents to make them stop. They were allowed to indulge in this harmless fun.

Musicians at my niece’s wedding. Quite the unusual venue. Maybe that can be a topic for another time.

Weird camera effects as the band rocked the packed theater. Anthony Rossomando, Philadelphia 2004. I was pleasantly surprised when looking up the spelling of his name to learn that he co-wrote "Shallow" with Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, and Andrew Wyatt. The boy's done good!

Hear the sound of jet engine, and aircraft carrier.

Birds singing was the sound this morning right after sunrise.

The hills are alive with the sound of music! My friend being silly in the Alps.

We're camping in northern Idaho--it's beautiful here. It's sooooo quiet EXCEPT for the birds! I've enjoyed relaxing in my camp chair listening to them. The 2nd pic is our pup Finley watching some very noisy Canada geese.

This is right outside the dining room window. It's beautiful, but depending on recent rainfall, can get very loud. I sometimes wish there were a switch so I could turn it off for a while.

A loud and festive parade on the water on 4th of July, 2012, Balboa Island, CA.

Waterfall at Agua Azul, Chiapas. I believe this is the first national park in Mexico. I camped here in a tent.

The loud and unpleasant part of the Holiday Fireworks in Manhattan Beach. I don't like these noisy ones.

I've tried to photograph planes in formation but could never quite catch them. However, my brother sort of caught this jet, after it swooped down very close to my car (an open-back mini-SUV) while I was driving:

This was just outside China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station, as we were driving to Death Valley. The test pilots like to fly over this highway and swoop down close to cars to terrorize motorists. Lots of people we talked with in Death Valley also had this happen to them.

These jets make a tremendous noise, and so it is quite disconcerting. Here's another photo of the same plane, seconds later:

This thread has made me realize how many sounds and noises that I really hate - mostly ones that are loud and shrill, but that does not include airplanes. One of the worst is loud sports fans and sports newscasters, which is one of the reasons I do not watch sports or even sports news on TV. I don't get excited about team sports.
