36" x 60" shower pan too small?

We're renovating our bathroom right now, and as silly as it may seem, I can't decide between two very similar shower dimensions. This is for our master bathroom.

We have a foam (Kerdi) shower pan right now that's 38" x 60" and honestly, it feels like it may be a tad too big for my tastes. Our bathroom isn't huge either, so I was thinking of cutting it down to a 36" width pan. With the glass door centered on the curb, from wall to shower door we'd have about 38" of "elbow room."

My question, anyone with a 36" depth shower pan, does it feel small to you? Do you like it? We're keeping the 60" in length as is. I think the room will feel larger with the slightly smaller shower size, and I think it will be plenty big still. But I don't want to make a mistake in cutting down the Kerdi board as that stuff is expensive!
